TrueJoshNight Truly Dreadful Film
Kidskycom It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Oliver Lowden I only wanted to review this after reading the most recent reviews and it's regarding the music. For what this film is and the way it was made it was suited for more current band music based on the actors in the band and the older aged character that is in the band. They are trying to show the man reverting to drinking a large amount and how he cant cope (microwavable food)-in regards to the father showing no emotion. I see loads of emotion in this amazing performance. Basically anyone reading the most recent reviews disregard them please and watch this film. I have seen three times and think its simply stunning! It is such an unused concept mental illness and should be in many more films so it can be noticed. Everyone should have someone to talk to and i think this does a great deal in raising awareness to this terrible disease.
schuster_mark It's rare these days I see a movie this well written AND acted. William H. Macy has directed and co-written an intelligent, beautiful and thought-provoking film. I've enjoyed Billy Crudup as an actor for many years and he did not let me down in this film. I love actors that can sweep you away from reality, if only for a few hours. Actors that do what they do so well you forget you're watching a film and become engrossed in their every move and word. Billy Crudup does that, and he does that in this film without flaw. Anton Yelchin, who normally is someone I just tolerate in a film, adds the magic that takes this film over the top and makes it something special and not just another film. This movie has everything; great acting, great music - great story and a great twist at the end. William H. Macy has proved again how talented of an individual he truly is. A great movie! I highly recommend it!
Solnichka McPherson Accidentally watched this one day, having no idea what it was—but drawn in by the opening scenes which serve as an excellent hook for the audience. I once reviewed another film based on tragedy here, and this film is a whole different take on it. The music is good, yeah, but there's a human interest story here that more and more people need to know: What happens to the loved ones of those who cause tragedy? This film takes a crack at that necessary story, and we all can benefit from watching something like this. Tragedy leaves no person untouched, of course ... and in the quick rush to judge and blame, people forget there are no winners in situations like this. I feel like a better person for having watched this movie—and cared about its characters. A few thoughts on the acting: Selena Gomez is wasted here, as that character needed more development. Billy Crudup and Anton Yelchin do well carrying the picture overall, though. On to the music: It's good, and I'm not a music expert, even if I have written dozens of music articles in my years as a journalist. But the songs are engaging emotionally considering the film's content, and they sound good playing on a car stereo driving with the sunroof open on a coastal highway. What else is there to say?
jmoolten I thought the movie was great. There were a few scenes that left me empty. Or incomplete and saying - huh? The lips poster scene especially felt incomplete. It was as if they were leading the audience to believe that Quiton may somehow be connected to Josh or the shooting in some way? This also seemed apparent when Lawrence Fishburn comments on Quintons response to Sam being Josh's father or ,"the father of the shooter?" Just odd responses with no real closer or conclusion. OR...You could say the artistic under current was to make you feel uncomfortable and perhaps that was the direction or oddity here. :) Very enjoyable film Music excellent Characters were great
