Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.

Nagisa Sugiura (Yuka) is a young Japanese actress who comes face to face with a slew of ghosts. These restless spirits begin to appear when she signs on to star in a horror film which tells the true story about a crazed, local professor whose murderous rampage at a hotel left 11 guests dead, including his young son and daughter. The director of the film is making the movie at the actual hotel where the murders happened, so it's not long before Nagisa starts to witness them more and more.Rinne (Reincarnation) isn't actually that bad of a movie. The story itself is pretty simple, but it does tend to jump about a bit so it can get a bit tricky to follow. It's also a wee bit slow in parts, but the parts where it picks up makes up for that slightly but just not enough for me.What kind of saves it bombing totally for me are some of the ghost scenes, especially ones that involve a doll. These scenes - in particular one near the end of the movie - are pretty freaky, so it's just a pity that the rest of the movie didn't have that same kind of creep factor. I know a film can't be just full of scenes like that, but you can't help wishing that it had more to make it that much more gripping. There are some elements that reminded me of Ju-on (which was a much better film), but considering the director of that movie and this are the same, doesn't surprise me.Overall, it's not too bad of a movie to watch, especially if you like pretty creepy Japanese horror films, but there are better ones out there.

REINCARNATION is a typical entry in the Japanese horror entry that sets out to explore the possibility of reincarnation and the effect that past lives would have on the living. With GRUDGE director Takashi Shimizu at the helm, viewers have every right to expect a treat, but this is a film that offers more of the same than anything remotely new. While I appreciate some of the directions that the storyline takes, for the most part REINCARNATION plays it safe. The leading actress is subjected to all manner of terrors, both real and imagined, but her acting is poor and the viewer doesn't buy into her plight. The construction of the plot is intriguing, but cold; it's hard to get motivated about what takes place, and there are frustrating moments when the writer plays coy. Come the umpteenth twist at the end, I was feeling a little weary. The scare sequences are highly familiar to anyone with the slightest experience of watching Asian horror, Japanese in particular. There's a decent sequence set in a library, but too much of the ghost kid stuff that anyone who's watched GRUDGE 2 will find overly familiar. Good use is made of a creepy doll, I admit, but it's hardly genre-breaking stuff. REINCARNATION is okay, but it's not a film I'd hurry to watch again.

This movie is one of my top five horror movies that I have seen. This movie is really unique and the huge twists at the end of this movie is just amazing, possibly one of the best twists any movie would have. The movie is slow paced at first but has its mystery elements. Towards the end of the movie, thats when all sorts of terrifying scenes starts occurring and I just could not stop watching. It was just so exciting and entertaining. The cameraman did a great job in this film. The acting of the main character was great. The storyline was original and unique. The last half of the film is exciting and really entertaining. This movie is very original though it does share some ideas with Bunshinsaba. Everything in this movie is clear. This movie is highly recommended for one who wants to watch a more unique film. After you watch this film you would probably hope that you did not do anything bad in your previous life. Ha Ha. Highly Recommended! Score:10/10

A young actress named Nagisa (Yuka) gets a role in a horror film. It's based on a real incident where 11 people were killed. She starts having hallucinations and dreams about the killings and the place they took place at...but she's never been there. Things escalate leading to a tragic conclusion.I usually hate Asian horror films. They seem to be full of white faced ghost kids with big eyes jumping out at you. This was an exception. It DOES have dead kids (an uncomfortable image that they show far too much) but there's also a mystery involved with the killings. It's slowly unravelled and all comes together at the end. It's held together by good acting, great directing and a spooky soundtrack filled with unpleasant sounds and music. Unfortunately this is far from perfect. The plot has a few (minor) loopholes and it moves far too slow. There was this tendency to show the same scenes multiple times--it gets tedious fast. Still it does work on you and the ending did chill me. Recommended. I give it a 7.
