Softwing Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??

Dirtylogy It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

ToniHunterOne It appears Leigh Scott turned the direction of this film over to Sybil and the local junior high school Drama club. Pirates of Treasure Island suffers greatly from dissociative identity disorder otherwise known as split-personality; with each personality struggling to gain control of the script. As a straight Robert Lewis Stevenson interpretation; it fails. As a rousing swashbuckler; it fails. Mortally wounded characters reappear a few minutes later; they are not glassy-eyed decaying creatures craving human flesh; so as a zombie film it fails. Exactly how did Long John getaway from the Verne-esque giant triceratops beetle with the spider eyes and trumpeting bellow at the beginning of the film? Spider-eyes' jaws are snapping, Long John is screaming and... fade to black then 2:40 minutes of opening credits that I suppose are designed to make us forget Long John's peril so we don't say: What The F**k? when he reappears 20 minutes later without so much as a peg leg, hook-hand or eye patch for his misadventure. The most redeeming quality of PoTI is Mel Lewis' music. Actors of note who really carry their parts are Jennifer Lee Wiggins as Polly the French-Coquette-turned-pirate and James Ferris as Captain Smollette (Smo-yet) the randy French poof.Others of note are Thomas Downey as Lt. Andrew Jackson, Rhett Giles as Wilkins, Derek Osedach as Flacon, and of course Lance Henriksen who plays the infamous "Long John Silver" for what its worth.Scott had many elements in place to make this a great B spoof but, alas even Ben Gunn couldn't pull this "treasure" out of the sand. alexander_kaan this is a film which almost looks like its made for ruining any future pirate films. why... because it looks like its a high school play gone bad. this movie should not be displayed to anyone below the age of 120. if u do try and bite thru the thick layer of rubbish acting and bad scenery and clothing you will surely be surprised to find it irresistible to try and peel the way to obvious fake mustache of the screen which i believe is worn by the main character. i am a fan of movie's even if the budget is low, but this movie is not only low budget but ill-spent too i couldn't bear to watch thru the whole thing. it makes me think that people are still searching for that dare to be unemployed situation because if anyone ever try's to sell this they will surely end up in the unemployed section of the world because of traumatic reasons.

KinoKritiker It's a reasonably good low budget spoof, but it's not Blazing Saddles or Young Frankenstein. Don't expect a major studio production, and you may even enjoy the film. I had hoped that the bug on the island was somehow a recondite allusion to Edgar Allan Poe's The Gold Bug (which strongly influenced Stevenson's writing of Treasure Island), but, alas, that was probably too much to hope for. The humor is sometimes subtle (when it's not intentionally and blatantly absurd), and you will need also to listen carefully to catch most of it. Sometimes the humor is a little disappointing; with all of the luscious décolletage, the best line they could come up with was the "udder pain" one. So the humor isn't always National Lampoon, but it's still not a bad spoof.

sabhin Pathetic movie. This is the second pathetic movie I have seen in my life. I don't remember the name of the 1st pathetic movie. This movie is so sick. I was expecting some really cool graphics work, but was disappointed. The story is OK. Had there been more twists and turns, I could have given a 5 for this movie. But I can only give this movie a 1. Very bad movie. The actors have done a OK job. Overall a pathetic movie. Don't recommend it to your friends unless you want them to suffer. The director needs to get a huge collection of DVD's so that he can get some inspirations of file making.The story runs at such a bad pace. Being a pirate movie, I was wishing more thrills. The end is even more pathetic. The hero and heroine had been shot. They get up after some time without showing any signs of pain!!!
