2freensel I saw this movie before reading any reviews, and I thought it was very funny. I was very surprised to see the overwhelmingly negative reviews this film received from critics.
Michael_Elliott Nekromantik 2 (1991) ** 1/2 (out of 4) Monika (Monika M) is a nurse who has a desire to have sex with corpses. This very strange fetish of hers is something she tries to keep from the man (Mark Reeder) she's dating but soon he finds out.Jorg Buttgereit's NEKROMANTIK is a film that pretty much sent shock waves down the horror community and it quickly gained a notorious reputation for being a work of art that really managed to cross several lines. This sequel isn't nearly as good but there's no doubt that fans of the director will want to check it out and especially since it contains more bizarre and rather vile scenes between the living and the dead.NEKROMANTIK 2 is a more polished and better looking film as it's clear the director was working with more money. I think the raw nature of the film movie is what helped make it so memorable but I personally didn't mind the more polished look here. The biggest problem with this sequel is the fact that it clocks in at 102-minutes, which is way too long. I think there were several sequences that could have been edited out of the movie and it would have made it more entertaining. The movie that the two are seeing on a date could have been edited out and I'm not exactly sure what the seal autopsy has to do with anything other than letting the viewer experience some real gore.As usual, the special effects were quite good and I must say that the corpse was a very good design. I really liked the look of it and I must say all the added slime and blood really made a great impression. I also thought the two leads were quite good here with both of them delivering believable performances. The film has several gory moments as well as some outrageous sex scenes and yes there are some involving the corpse. As usual, Buttgereit manages to take a rather vile subject and add an art house feel to it. The film certainly won't be for everyone but it's well-made.
insomniac_rod *SPOILERS!! BIG ONES* The sequel to the infamous and heavily criticized "Nekromantic" delivers some interesting scenes filled with gore but lack of feeling. The movie moves very slow and the fact that the score is dull and sometimes tedious doesn't help the movie to become entertaining or interesting. What really got me was the deep plot involving feelings, sex, gore, and violence. The situations are bizarre but passionate.Monika M's performance is average. I know that her character needs special skills because it's a really difficult situation the one she's been through but I think that she wasn't that passionate for the role. I expected a whole lot more from the shocking, thrilling ending. The scene is raw and shocking itself but I guess that it could've been more shocking. It's disturbing, and I don't mind saying provocative. The way she hurries in order to get her ex lover's head and places it on the recent dead man is as weird as you can expect. But the highlight is the way she "rides" the dead body with the rotten head. Nice. I haven't seen any other scene like that involving a decapitation, gore, and sex in such a brutal way. The scene delivers and makes the movie worth watchable just for it. I praise the director's intention to shock the audience and display the Necrophiliac disease as a deep feeling. There's plenty of violence, gore, sex, and the occasional shocking scenes so if you are into exploitation this is a must see. Probably not as best as the original Nekromantik but still deserves a watch. The movie is visually stunning and the camera angles are really good. The gore effects are also top notch and are the highlight of the movie. The movie is worth the watch for it's shocking content and brutal scenes. Also, Monika M. is very, very attractive.
tomplanlos After being quite dissapointed in watching NEKROMANTIK 1, I gave Budgereit one more try by watching the second part of his stupid necro-drama. It´s even worse! It was so boring, that even a fly that comes across my sight would have been more interesting. The Plot could have been told in 15 Minutes. The Actors are as stupid as the whole movie itself. The music was getting so intensely on my nerves, that I nearly decided to watch the movie without sound. (Additonally I wouldn´t have missed much, because the dialogs are absolutely needless and explain nothing). The only "highlight" is the scene in the end, when Monika cuts off Marks head while having sex and replaces it with Roberts head. But this single scene doesn´t compensate more than 100 minutes of gaping boredem mixed with cheap thrills. That´s what NEKROMANTIK 2 is all about. If you´re looking for gore you´d better check out some of Peter Jacksons early movies...
fertilecelluloid Buttgereit tries something different -- pretentious artiness -- with this sequel to his infamous necro classic. It doesn't work. The woman from the first film returns and putters around with her dead flame's corpse. Shots are repeated from the first film and the music score is rehashed. The film's artwork has merit and more money was spent on this effort, but the single-minded focus of the first film -- one of its virtues -- is gone. For completists only. Try SCHRAMM instead.
