NekoHomey Purely Joyful Movie!
SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
Lucia Ayala It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
bm-89274 Ok, I understand nobody there in such cast can actually act, but till that level? The movie is a festival of bad acting, literally by everyone.Script or scenario had so many holes to lose the dynamics that I think teenager will write a better one. It is just as boooooorriiiinnnggg. But I enjoyed the goofs: caneraman in every eyeglasses reflection, continuation nonsense etc. Gunfight: please someone teach director to count, Beretta M9 ist only 17 shooter at it's best. And I don't understand how you can be a special op cop, shooting M4 rifle precisely at straight running man at you in 15 meters, lose 10 rounds and miss the fat body??!! You must be a really dominant loser at shooting. This movie is plain stupid in every corner. So if you want to watch it, the only you will enjoy is the festival of total nonsense.
Comeuppance Reviews Cole (Daniels) is a DEA agent searching the mean streets of Tijuana, Mexico in search of his kidnapped ex-wife. He believes the drug cartels have something to do with her disappearance so he goes after the baddies involved. Helping him out is a beautiful woman named Gracie (Vasquez). That's pretty much it. Will Cole and Gracie fight the bad guys, rescue the girl, and win the day? You know how in movies and TV shows, when cops or doctors have to go to the family of someone who died, and they say something like "it never gets any easier" or "this is the part of the job I hate", while having grave, unsmiling faces? Well, this is how we feel right now. As much as we love Gary Daniels, and we desperately WANTED to love Misfire, we - regrettably - have to deliver the bad news. It's just not very good. We hate...well, hatred on the internet and we try not to be a party to it, so, we'll just say what we have to say in as kind a way as we can, and we'll try to back it up with all that we have, and, presumably what you're reading this for: our opinion. We love that fan favorite Gary Daniels is still working, and he has to get in where he fits in, as it were. But fans of his want to see him do Martial Arts, and/or be charming during dialogue scenes. Both are minimal in Misfire. Daniels does do some stuff towards the END of the movie. Bad move. He should have fought more goons and done it from the get-go. Instead, the pace of the movie is odd and lopsided, with a bunch of yak-yak and extended scenes of shirtless men walking around. Then a few limp, lazy action scenes break out (starting with a fruit cart foot chase), but the whole thing just feels OFF - and slow. It lacks edge, focus, drive, and a strong, super-evil villain. The cumulative effect of this is that it feels like nothing much of value is happening, and the viewer gets annoyed. It appears director Frazier doesn't know what to do with Mr. Daniels. He didn't use him to his maximum potential, or even close to it. I'm surprised they're teaming up again after this for future projects. The real problem is, this movie isn't exciting or fun. There's no sense of high-stakes action/adventure. It feels rote, with no "Yes!" moments. And there's one blow-up. ONE. Listen, we couldn't care less that it's low-budget and has that sort of feel. Low-budget movies are the lifeblood of cinema. But if we compare it, just for fun, to a high-budget Hollywood movie, Fair Game (1995), Fair Game is a masterpiece, even though people make fun of it all the time. Because Fair Game knows what the audience wants and expects, and delivers it to them. Misfire did not do that. That's the real problem here. And just a note on the title. "Misfire" is a very modern-day - you might even say post-modern - title for an action movie. Almost like it's ashamed of itself. Gone are the days of titles like Fists of Blood (1988), Triple Impact (1992), and Excessive Force II: Force on Force (1995), it seems. We need more strong, powerful heroes that aren't afraid to snap some necks and blow up a few helicopters, not some guy in a nebbish voice saying "sorry ma'am, I'm afraid I had a misfire". And we don't want to hear any excuses on this, like we're dealing with the dark night of Cole's soul or something. No more 'misfire's.Not to be too obvious about it, but we are forced to say it: Misfire is indeed a misfire.
suhstayn Limited movie. Basic story line and plot is good. The telling of the story leaves some to be desired. The screenwriter never gets you to care about the main characters. Not the main character (Gary Daniels) or either of the female characters. No believable relationships between any of the characters in the film. Dialogue isn't up to much. Characters paper thin. Little to no emotions shown. The film fails to get you the viewer to ever really care about any of characters. To even care whether they live or die. They are not likable. Paper thin. Limited emotions. The main character (Gary Daniels) - all he does is snarl / be angry. The is his only setting. He is not likable.I liked the soundtrack. Some of the action scenes were good. Like I said, the basic plot was good and kept the movie going. The had some material there that they could have made better use of. I like drug cartel movies and action movies.Overall, it is definitely below average. Either a 3 or a 4 out of 10. It is not a movie you go out of your way to see. If it's on TV and nothing else is, it's worth checking out if you are big action movie watcher.
batmanbegins_05 In this day and age...with the death of video stores and studios only making Marvel or Twilight movies, classic 80s & 90s action films have been squeezed out and its a shame. But with the rise in VOD, studios need content as they make fewer films and this is where the likes of Gary Daniels and DTV action stars can shine once again. This movie, made on a budget of $1 million dollars looks great. Decent actors, good action and nice production values make this film enjoyable to watch. Gary gets some nice shoot outs, gets to flex his acting chops as well as his muscles and the only downside is lack of fights (which a Gary Daniels fan expects). But fear not, director and star reunite for there next film "Bullpen" which is a martial arts brawler...So to review Misfire on its own merits, it is an enjoyable 90 minute action film, that lacks action for the first 20 minutes, then gets better as the film goes on. 7/10 I enjoyed it.
