Brightlyme i know i wasted 90 mins of my life.
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Casey Duggan It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
Frances Chung Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
decanc If you are the type of person like i am (into weird things, plots that twists trying to find their meaning and why, making my own plot twists, debating if the scene is true to its physiological portrait, etc) you will enjoy this movie. Its not a perfect Oscar movie. I would watch it just because of the cast, but i found its pretty psychologically intense, didn't get bored (if you are looking for special effects it is clearly not for you) and it was going to towards something you expect from such type of movie. Characters are not ashamed to act at the limits of their boundaries, and you as a spectator are just being all sucked into all of this, if you allow it to exist. Just watch it if you like unusual movies, let it exist.
David Roggenkamp This is a movie which is meant to be rooted in folklore – the description for the movie at Redbox also lists the same. However, the majority of the movie is filled with angst as a young girl has trouble dealing with adjusting to problems while on vacation. The bitterness of the movie is ten fold, but somehow it manages to just keep on going until the very end when the girl -surprise- dies and, what should have been the meat of the movie, plays out for a few minutes. The movie ends abruptly and I'm left to wonder why this movie was worth my time.I recommend you avoid this movie and spend your money elsewhere.Originally posted to Orion Age (http://www.orionphysics.com/?p=8023).
pilodanxinger Well, if you think that Iron Man is a great movie, then of course, Magic Magic will seem the most boring movie ever.In my case, I love simple stories, that present characters as real world people, with real-people problems and challenges, that allow us for introspection and learning. In the case of Magic Magic, we are presented with the downward spiral journey of a weak mind, triggered probably by the distance from home, the sight of a foreign land, and the overwhelming amount of environmental stimuli, which can be trivial for the rest of the characters. If we exercise our empathy just a bit, and look that world through the eyes of Alicia, we will find ourselves as witnesses of violent events that can harm us very deeply. The movie not only shows a very complex character in Alicia, but tests our sensitivity levels.A masterpiece with great acting, and a great lesson for all of us.
begob Interesting and unusual.A mousy girl suffers deadly anxiety amongst strangers who react in ways that provoke her decline. Not much of a logline, but this is brilliantly observed. The touches of social awkwardness, fear, delusion, psychosis are really well played by the actress, and I found her completely convincing. That's the first time I've seen a film bothering to show this kind of character, who goes into a mental frenzy because she's so fearful of the harsh company of others, the constant evidence of death. Very sad.And the rest of the cast does a great job weaving a web of cruelty, contempt, indifference, caring. The end is bizarre, and I suppose the abortion subplot should have tied in more tightly with the death. All the pills and the doctoring, from the psychiatrist prescriptions through the friends to the witchdoctors, only hasten the inevitable. I suppose that makes the title a sarcastic dig at our efforts to treat mental illness. That's something to reflect on, so I mark it up.Music excellent,
