Reviews
Helloturia I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
Mischa Redfern I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
Lucia Ayala It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
Wyatt There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
jasperan I like how, every time I watch this movie as I get older, it makes more and more sense to me, as I relate more and more with Keira's character. I wish to be as happy as she is and as careless about the world when she is laying low.
hjt15 I thoroughly enjoyed Say When. But then I'm a thirty-something Peter Panette who hasn't grown up, found true love and who's biggest regret is never having made it to a high school prom. Its all about whether you're content with your pretty comfortable lot or whether you yearn for the same unbridled ambition you had as a teen. Sam Rockwell's character is hilarious - you don't want to like him but it's difficult not to like anyone so flawed. Ditto for Kiera Knightley's. It's the kind of movie that gives us millennials/generation x'ers hope that there is a silver lining to all the hard work. Now where can i find my own Craig....
Instant_Palmer Wasn't expecting to like this film as much as I did. First, Sam Rockwell has got to be one of the best actors to work with. He is naturally cool and his confidence on screen must be contagious. Have never seen who put anything but an A-Game performance out there. Second, no one plays the girl we all want to fall in love with (who is sincere, cool, fun, and romantic) than Kiera Knightley. Kiera and Sam? Would never see it working on paper. Totally worked on the screen. Third, Chloe Grace Moretz is one fine young actress whose resume is amazing at such a young age. Expect to see Oscars on a frequent basis from her. Finally, Lynn Shelton paces this film perfectly. Her best effort to date. Nicely done! 👏👏👏
phd_travel There is a winning quality to this romantic comedy about a girl in her 20s (Knightley) in a bit of a mid 20s crisis after being proposed to by her boyfriend. She befriends a teenage girl (Moretz) and her divorced father (Rockwell). It starts off a bit slow but then you realize gradually the characters are all quite likable even when they are doing something wrong. This understated treatment of the more serious moments makes it more effective especially the visit to the mother (Mol). Avoids melodrama which would have spoilt the tone of the movie.Keira Knightley makes her 20s finding herself girl surprisingly sympathetic and identifiable. Throughout her mistakes you still root for her. Chloe Grace Moretz is a standout as always. She gives a sensitive performance and doesn't overact. Amidst all the recent movies a likable teenager character on film is kind of rare. Sam Rockwell plays the father quite charmingly.Overall one the better indie rom coms of late and worth a watch.
