Reviews
Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
Helloturia I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
Loui Blair It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
Gary The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
markcasa-63624 I should have not seen this movie or at least not at my age. Heavy Metal is a film I have heard a bit about before I saw it. Like in that episode of South Park: Major Boobage, where Kenny gets high on cat pee and is sent to a fantasy world which parodies three of the films stories. I like that episode and I got all the references in the movie but I was not in store for all the adult stuff and naked things. I don't know it's just weird. I did find some of the scenes in the movie like the end of the Captain Sternn or too say most of the captain Sternn short especially the end. I only recommend this film too those who can handle this kind of material or who are fans of South Park or fans of the comic which spawned this movie. I never saw the comic and I didn't know there was a comic until before I saw this film.8 out of 10.
Smoreni Zmaj This adult animated sci-fi/fantasy movie is an anthology of stories adapted from the magazine of the same name and original stories in the same spirit. It's full of violence and nudity and accompanied by the music of great rock and metal names of its time, including Sammy Hagar, Blue Öyster Cult, Cheap Trick, Don Felder, Nazareth, Journey, Stevie Nicks and legendary Black Sabbath. I think it gained cult status more because of its name, awesome music and naked women, than its objective quality, but although it's now outdated, those who grew up in eighties and nineties will understand its greatness, even if they're watching it now for the first time.8/10
endofmyrope-00602 Heavy Metal stands the test of time, it's still the fantastic SF flcik it was when I was 9 or 10. Simply put, it is one of the best animated films of all time, and of course it boasts an all star soundtrack as well. Enjoy it, no matter your age.
Dalbert Pringle Even though Heavy Metal (from 1981) may be somewhat silly and incredibly disjointed at times, it is an impressively animated anthology of 8 sexy, Sci-Fi/Fantasy stories set to (what else? - but) heavy metal music. These fantastic stories of graphic violence, female nudity and perverse sexuality were adapted for this film from the original Heavy Metal comic book, which was all produced by the magazine's publisher, himself, Leonard Mogel.Heavy Metal's stories follow the path of a glowing green orb called Loc-Nar that contains the sum total of all the evil in the entire Universe. Loc-Nar travels continually through time and space, spreading violence and discordance everywhere in its wicked wake.Heavy Metal's artists and animators were recruited from 17 different countries. The animation process used in Heavy Metal was the old, roto-scope technique, which consisted of filming models and actors, then tracing the shot onto film for animation purposes. To be sure - Heavy Metal is an adult, animated, feature film that is certainly not gonna appeal to everyone.
