Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

This movie is one of my personal favorites for a good reason. Some of showa era movies are infamous for their bland uninteresting character while this one have well made characters including Akihito Hirata's scientist character and the main villain. the main human plot has a kind of thriller type vibe to it but terror i think has more of that. Mechagodzilla's design in this is truly iconic because of how threatening he looks and with his arsenal of weapons. the screen time of Godzilla is about the right amount a Godzilla movie needs. Over all a brilliant film with brilliant action.

I absolutely love Godzilla, always have always will and this was my first Godzilla film and my favourite. Don't get me wrong I love the original 1954 classic as well as The Return of Godzilla 1984 but this is still the best. The reason, Mechagodzilla makes his first appearance and though we have had at least five different versions of Mechagodzilla this design is still the best.A woman has a prophecy that when a black cloud appears, a huge monster will arrive to destroy the world, however when the sun sets two monsters will appear to fight the evil monster and save the world. Meanwhile Godzilla appears from the mountain and goes on a rampage and absolutely hammers poor Anguirus in a brutal and bloody fight. From there Godzilla wreaks havoc on the power plant and it is from here we understand that this Godzilla is not what he seems. Sure enough the real Godzilla appears and fights with the imposter who then transforms to Mechagodzilla controlled by aliens from outer space. Both Godzilla and Mechagodzilla shoot their beams at each other and basically knock each other out big time. Godzilla is thought to be dead because of the heavy blood loss while Mechagodzilla's mechanics are damaged and needs to be fixed. I won't carry on if you haven't seen it but rest assured the finale is brilliant. As mentioned this is my favourite of all Godzilla movies, not only is it action packed, the human side story is engaging and the aliens (which we later find out are apes) are menacing. Also Mechagodzilla to me is easily Godzilla's most powerful foe (sorry King Ghidorah) and the finale will have you covering your eyes in horror as you will think that Godzilla will meet his end.If you enjoy this, I recommend you watch the sequel Terror of Mechagodzilla.

The best Godzilla movie is Godzilla (1998). Maybe you don't agree that o.k. But if you mad about that you deed to grow up pee pee heads. This is the 14th Godzilla movie. The 15th Godzilla movie Terror of M.e.c.h.a. Godzilla is better. The 16th Godzilla movie Return of Godzilla is better. The 17th Godzilla movie Godzilla vs B..i.o.l.l.a.n.t.e is also better. But this is still and could movie. It's very scary. See it. The 11th Godzilla movie Godzilla vs the smog monster is better. The 8th Godzilla movie Son of Godzilla is also better. The 1st Godzilla movie Godzilla King of the monsters is also better. But still a very good movie. See it.

It was Godzilla's 20th Anniversary in pictures in 1974, and so the producers concocted a pretty nifty opponent for him with this film. Mechagodzilla is an evil cyborg version of The Big G himself, who is unleashed upon Tokyo by still another group of humanoid aliens. When the baddies are either injured or killed they revert back to their true forms - this time, underneath their humanistic skins they look like man-apes from the PLANET OF THE APES series! (Since the APES films were very popular at the time, I can't help but wonder if this was an influence). All of this is kind of familiar territory, but it's still a fairly enjoyable addition to the series. Godzilla gets to fight his metallic enemy, with the aid of a giant furry new mythical creature named King Caesar. Godzilla's old buddy Anguirus also makes an appearance, with a rather unexpected outcome. **1/2 out of ****
