nadeshikomail This movie reminds me of my personal life and culture. I have a great connection with my father as I considered him as a family man. In my place, most of people only see love story between parents and children represented by a mother. And this movie proved to me that kind of mindset isn't always right. In this movie we could see how a love between father and daughter could be strong as well. A girl waiting faithfully for her father who leaves her. She strongly believes deep inside her heart that love always finds its way. No matter how long should she wait for him, nor where could they reunite. This story explores how much she is longing for her father to come back, she goes back to the shore every day as a form of her love. The animation itself brought many nostalgic feelings to me, and the music even told us briefly about the emotion and situation we were facing in each scene.

Wheepuppy This short film tells the story of a girl that is left on a coast by his father, after a ride on their bikes and an emotive farewell. She comes back to the place they last saw each other by riding her bike. Through this sequences, we can appreciate how life goes by as she grows old and goes through different periods of her life, always riding her bike (that seems to become older with her too), and never stopping coming to the place she was left by her father. The film has no dialogue but the music and the sounds are enough to take you into the story and make you able to understand what is going on on screen. Also, every element of the movie has a metaphoric meaning: the trees, the bikes, the water, etc, that gives the film a deeper and poetic view that I enjoyed. Nevertheless, I could not feel really touched by its story because I cannot empathise with the strong bond or relationship between a father and a daughter; this making the film to me nothing more than a simple story beautifully told.

Neradea33 This short movie shows the story of a father and his daughter getting apart from each other. The movie is mainly around the daughter waiting and growing up without her father. To me, it raises deep questions about life without using words but rather by playing with visual representations. For instance, we can wonder if death is not represented by this woman on a bike wearing black, but we can also guess that bikes represent mobility and lifetime. Throughout visuals a lot of issues are represented for instance loneliness, separation and so one and so forth. Beyond visuals, the simplicity of the music adds a melancholic feeling and stresses the despair of the daughter while waiting for her father. Plus, what is particularly remarkable is the impersonal dimension of the characters in the movie, that enables viewers to relate more easily to the situation and share the main feeling of separation by indirectly transposing their situation to the character's. In the same perspective, the scenario is precise but there is an absence of dialogue which enables a real freedom of interpretation to viewers regarding the story and enables them to relate. Altogether, from music to visuals, the movie is beautiful and makes viewers relate/think about human relationships in time. I would highly recommend this 8 minute movie !

saoatama Father and Daughter is a great movie. It deeply impressed me without a word. This movie begins with a scene where a young man and his small daughter head for a cliff by bicycle. There are a small boat below the cliff. The father leaves a little girl there, and rowes for the horizon. After that she comes there to expect her father for life. Although all scenes are set in this cliff, you see how went on her lifetime. All she did in this film is riding a bycicle and stoping. But she sometimes brought her friends there, sometimes her boyfriend, and sometimes her son. I wonder if she is happy. Even she has many friends and her own family, she must feel lonely. She could not give up a empty hope that her father would be back someday. Because she is too young to understand why he leaves. And music is amazing. The piano sound added sadness. Everyone should see it and be amazed how beautiful and immortal a love of father and daughter is.
