InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
mraculeated The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
adonis98-743-186503 An ex-CIA agent and his estranged daughter are forced on the run when his employers erase all records of his existence, and mark them both for termination as part of a wide-reaching international conspiracy. In terms of acting Erased stars Aaron Eckhart and Olga Kurylenko are very good and the acting in general wasn't bad. Now in terms of plot and pacing it struggles and it takes a lot of time to reach what it wants to be is it a thriller or an action movie? It's boring and feels kinda like a rehash of Taken 2 the actors as i said do a nice job but the script didn't let them accomplish what they really wanted. Overall i give Erased (2012) a 5.7/10
petralyn I needn't go into a bunch movie land mumbo jumbo about this film I will say first, Eckhart whispering ala Southerland is totally out of place. The script is filled with cliché after cliché. specifically Libertino acting the innocent teenager is quite off putting. She fills the screen with the most insipid dialog through out the movie. Even the bad guys are like copies of every other spy movie produced--heavy handed, and bound to lose the fight. Both protagonists get shot, but amazingly recover sufficiently to work at discovering the traitor amongst the CIA who plotted with a corp CEO from Chicago. Of course he was from Chicago ending up in the streets of Antwerp. Even the sound track is not very encouraging being rather bland when compared to other more well done movie. Kill Bill comes to mind first. We have our requisite shoot out in the parking garage and a bomb which settle the movie ex machina style.Clearly, this movie was not made for the American market. It is an export product where the dialog can be made to more effectively reflect European tastes.
gaykathleen It is a very good movie. Compared to the latest Bourne movie which is a similar genre it is compelling and fast paced. Jason Bourne should have been good but it was not but this one will not disappoint. Acting and plot are both very good. It moves along well pulling the viewer with it through the exciting scenes and story. The tension between father and daughter and their struggles to cement a relationship adds a further dimension to the movie. The daughter does not know her father at the beginning and we watch as she comes to terms with who and what he is. For his part, he has to learn how to be a father and he shows this in his own way when he protects her from the dangers that are a part of his world or rather his previous life as a CIA agent. There are the usual chases and fights pertaining to this genre as well as the villains and semi villains. But the hero is the Dad who comes through for his daughter. The ending is also satisfying leaving the audience fulfilled. I give it at least 8 out of 10 and recommend it to anyone who likes action movies about CIA or people fighting against the odds to free themselves.
carbuff The most succinct way to characterize this movie is that it's essentially a mediocre movie that's been polished up a couple of notches. I have never, however, seen any of the films in the "Taken" series, and I suspect that if I had, I would lower my rating on this film a bit. Eckhart's performance in particular knocks this pretty ordinary and workmanlike thriller up that little extra bit, yet, as another reviewer commented, he is not totally convincing as the bada$$ he's supposed to be. The story falls apart a little at the end when the central "evil guy" becomes a little too paper thin in character, but at least it doesn't finish with a painfully long closing scene involving truly uncountable bodies, bullets and explosions, although the predictable comeuppence is hardly bloodless. Also, the chemistry between Eckhart's character and the daughter is exceptional, which helps greatly in adding emotion and depth to a kind of film which typically displays little of either. So, in conclusion, nothing special here at all, but if you are looking for a standard run-of-the-mill suspense flick, this one is more satisfying than most and isn't likely to leave you feeling like you completely wasted your time.
