Dear Frankie Trailers

Nine-year-old Frankie and his single mum Lizzie have been on the move ever since Frankie can remember, most recently arriving in a seaside Scottish town. Wanting to protect her deaf son from the truth that they've run away from his father, Lizzie has invented a story that he is away at sea on the HMS Accra. Every few weeks, Lizzie writes Frankie a make-believe letter from his father, telling of his adventures in exotic lands. As Frankie tracks the ship's progress around the globe, he discovers that it is due to dock in his hometown. With the real HMS Accra arriving in only a fortnight, Lizzie must choose between telling Frankie the truth or finding the perfect stranger to play Frankie's father for just one day...

Reviews
Flyerplesys Perfectly adorable
SoftInloveRox Horrible, fascist and poorly acted
Organnall Too much about the plot just didn't add up, the writing was bad, some of the scenes were cringey and awkward,
Sabah Hensley This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
adonis98-743-186503 After having responded to her son's numerous letters in the guise of his father, a woman hires a stranger to pose as his dad when meeting him. Dear Frankie is a very sweet and touching movie with 3 great performances by Emily Mortimer, Jack McElhone and Gerard Butler. Also without spoil anything to those who haven't seen or heard the film like ever this movie is extremely touching but of course you know that and very well directed and acted the only problem i found was mostly the ending the film could have ended with a much better happy ending especially when The Stranger played by Butler cares more about the kid than the money. Anyways in the end this movie is really good although the ending kinda left me disappointed.
cindy-wolff1 I came to this movie with low expectations. The plot felt contrived. I've never been happier to be wrong. I am absolutely stunned by the beauty of this movie. Every single actor carried his or her part with heartbreaking brilliance. Gerard Butler never seems to get the credit or award nominations he deserves. His nuanced stranger is easy to believe. He's a generous actor who never steals the scene but instead brings a stillness and grace that make the other actors shine. Not that he disappears. His beauty is impossible not to watch. His time with Frankie is fills your heart because you know Frankie's is filled. I didn't want the ending to be sad and if my imagination is right, it isn't. There was hope for a future that seemed implausible. I've always believed the best movies are the small ones that don't cost millions and don't require all the stunts and CGI. This will be added to the collection of movies I watch over and over.
reneweddan By now, Emily Mortimer and Gerard Butler have made a name of themselves, but this film puts all of that to rest. Watching this film, you might notice them, but their superb acting makes them embody every aspect of their character. This movie is a gem that has excellent acting, dialogue, and cinematography. It might seem "typical" but I assure you it isn't.Dear Frankie will have you feeling every emotion possible as it sinks you deeper into the plot and makes you feel for the characters.Emily Mortimer strikes gold again, thanks to Lars and the Real Girl, I checked this out. Gerard Butler does some acting I never thought possible (he isn't bad, but he sure isn't in much more than comedies and action movies). This is a treat all too well earned.Quit reading reviews and watch it already!
cinecrazy08 I remember a proverb that " Books are well written or badly written'.It is similar in case of movies too, Movies are well made or badly made. (there is no such thing as art films or commercial films). I saw the movie on STAR MOVIES on an evening, it completely mesmerized me.The actors weren't phony and script is also well executed. Also everybody brings out a seamless performance in acting, which can be credited to director.Even for people who hate movies, I will recommend this movie 10 out of 10.
