When rogue stealth-fighter pilot Vic Deakins deliberately drops off the radar while on maneuvers, the Air Force ends up with two stolen nuclear warheads -- and Deakins's co-pilot, Riley Hale, is the military's only hope for getting them back. Traversing the deserted canyons of Utah, Hale teams with park ranger Terry Carmichael to put Deakins back in his box.

Cassandra Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
a_chinn Hong Kong action maestro John Woo's most bland of American action films. It's not a bad action flick and is actually better than most, but it's a pretty dull script about corrupt US military man John Travolta trying to steal a nuclear warhead and his subordinate, Christian Slater, trying to stop him with the help of a plucky park ranger, Samantha Mathis, which make me want to consider this film a sequel to "Pump Up the Volume." The action is decent and there are Woo trademarks like two gun, Mexican standoffs, enemies back-to-back on opposite sides of a wall, etc. but it feels like he's just going through the motions. The studio supposedly heavily re-cut the film and maybe there exists a director's cut that's much better. Disappointing for a John Woo film, but satisfying enough by Hollywood action film standards.
mansonthismadting John Woo (Director of Face/Off) creates a dazzling array of frantic gun battles and gripping action centred around the duelling pair Slater and Travolta. Where else do you get to see a US Stealth Bomber crash into bits as slow motion shrapnel whips over the camera? The word 'cool' embodies the film's relaxed music, quirky humour, snappy one-liners and Woo's trademark visual candy. 'Broken Arrow', the US Military's term for a missing nuclear warhead, is the motivation of the plot as treachery and duels become the centre of the movie. Slater's desperately attempts to capture his co-pilot's bounty from the wreckage though Travolta is always one step ahead of his hapless former friend. Worth a watch... and then another!
Yipikaye Want explosions? You got em. Want guns? Check. Want to see John and Chris (and John) before they crashed and burned? This is a good opportunity for that. Want classy support in the shape of Samantha Mathis and Frank Whaley? There is that too. This is an awesome actioner. Do not believe the reviews this film rocks. From the opening boxing match thru the helicopter vs park ranger and hero chase to the absurdly thrilling conclusion any boxes that need checking Broken Arrow checks em. Slater is terrific as the hero. Travolta is a hoot and a half as the villain. Mathis tags along for the ride whilst Whaley looks frantic a lot (but he does it so well). Delroy Lindo also appears as a good guy. Bob Gunton is superb as the exasperated boss of Travolta. The entire cast does not put a foot wrong. Aside from the excellent cast this film scores with it's amazing action. And Travolta's quips. For more John Woo see Face/Off.
KineticSeoul Sure it's a ridiculous movie and has some laughable dialogue with some really cheesy moments. But for a action movie from the 90's, I give this movie a pass. Despite all the flaws and ridiculous aspect of this film, it's still a pretty enjoyable popcorn flick. With some good action set pieces and gunplay. Plus it was entertaining to watch playing the charismatic psycho villain. His agenda and motives aren't very clear, but he was fun to watch. In a movie like this going a bit overboard isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sure the action sequences maybe a bit outdated but it's still passable. Overall this is still a fun popcorn flick despite it's flaws.6.5/10
