Gurlyndrobb While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
Genghis Rees Anyone remember the old TV comedy Bewitched? This mess up has the same name and the same basic concept, but it is used as a vehicle for (this will make you laugh. Not) Will Ferrell! Yes, the story is not about a witch in the real world but about Will Ferrell failing to be funny. In fact the entire movie was not remotely amusing. I am not a big Nicole Kidman fan; she appears to have just one facial expression and uses it at every opportunity. This film might explain that expression - sort of confused incomprehension - since a role that maybe her agent (and the rest of us) thought would be the lead was torn away and the emphasis instead given to Ferrell (I can only think that he has some blackmail material on somebody important) to promote what should be a background character to be the lead. Want to know how bad this was - imagine a film being made of Breaking Bad with the lead role being taken by another teacher who never actually appeared in the original series.Dreadful.
Kirpianuscus maybe expectations, maybe the cast or the comparison with the legendary series are causes for the bitter impressions about the film. because only fact who remains after its end is the good intentions. and nothing else. Will Farell is far to be the best choice and Nicole Kidman remains in middle of fight for save the appearances. maybe, not the film is wrong but the idea to do it. because, like in other situations, the desire to do a remake has only childish ambition. sure, the film has a huge potential. but only if it has the right script. in the case of Bewitched, all seems be improvisation or, in few scenes, crumbs of stand up comedy. the charm of the original is definitely lost. the original cast remains so seductive than nothing could be used for replace them in memory. so, only a nice film.
shominy-491-652355 What makes this movie so wonderful and exceptional is that it is not a typical attempt at a remake of a classic hit TV series - in this film, the characters are actors making a "Bewitched" remake! Very clever! Will Farrell plays Jack, an egotistical actor, desperate to have a hit after his latest movies flopped. (Nora and Dela Ephron deserve a ton of credit for this creative storyline - it's the most clever remake of a hit TV show ever!) Shirley MacLaine is hilarious as Endora! Nicole Kidman is wonderful, believably naive and sweet, suddenly thrown into the harsh reality of Hollywood. Steve Carrell as Uncle Arthur is utterly hilarious and one of the greatest highlights of this excellent movie! Carole Shelley as Aunt Clara is a delight! Kristen Chenowith is awesomely funny (and adorable)! Heather Burns is fantastic! Nicole, Kristen, and Heather have a great chemistry as friends and their scenes together are so enjoyable. We love every second of this film! We have seen it about 15 times and always find it fresh, clever, charming, and oh-so-funny! This will always be our favorite Will Ferrell movie and our favorite Nicole Kidman movie. The scene where Isabelle (Nicole) and Jack (Will) are dancing during Steve Lawrence's smooth rendition of the hit song, "Bewitched," is wonderfully romantic and fun. This film should receive more than 10 stars!! P.S. If you are a die-hard classic TV Bewitched fan, watch it with an open mind: Will Farrell is not Darren - he is Jack, an actor hired to play Darren in a "retooled" remake of "Bewitched". Nicole Kidman is Isabelle, a new actress hired to play Samantha. This film pays perfect homage and respect to the original classic TV show. Everyone should be able to enjoy and appreciate this ultra-clever, very funny, very quote-able, often hilarious, endlessly creative, absolutely amazing, surprisingly sincere and romantic, sweet film. (Wish Hollywood could make more funny, sweet, sincere, romantic movies like this!)
FilmBuff1994 Bewitched is a very mediocre movie with a promising storyline and a great cast that sadly both failed to be as good as they could have been.Firstly,I don't think this movie should have been about making a remake of Bewitched,it should have just simply been a movie reboot of the well known series Ferrell and Kidman would have done a much better job,I think personally, playing Samantha and Darrin rather than greedy actors that are playing them, also we wouldn't have to have constant jokes about the film industry, they clearly thought they were being clever and self aware but after a while it just got annoying.A lot of people complained about the lack of chemistry between Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman, but I honestly thought they worked quite well together and though I will admit they did not appear to be in love, they looked liked they enjoyed working together.Steve Carell's cameo was my favourite part of the whole movie,he was only beginning to make it big when this came out,but this brief appearance showed that he is a genuinely funny man, this scene and the obvious friendship between him and Ferrell was the only part that had me in stitches. It has some good moments, but honestly Bewitched is not a great or memorable comedy and I would only recommend it to you if it's ever on television and there is nothing else to watch. A real life witch trying to live a non-magical life is cast as Samantha in a TV remake of Bewitched.Best Performance: Steve Carell Worst Performance: Kristen Chenoweth
