When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de)
Here we have another German film about the days of the GDR and this one goes by the name "The Wall - The Final Days". I will spare you the German title to avoid spelling errors, but let me say the only somewhat good news here is that the film is not as horribly pretentious as the German title sounds. Really vomit-inducing and they should definitely have gone for the alternate title. For writer Berger and director Zertz, this one is probably their most known work and this says nothing positive about their careers at all as the outcome here is really exactly what you'd expect when hearing the words Sat1 television epic. There are more than just a few moments where my rating of 4/10 is still very generous. By the way, this one we got here is a 2008 release, so it will have its 10th anniversary next year or maybe it already had depending on when you read the review. The cast is the usual: guys like Koeberlin you frequently find in stuff like that. These are actors who are not good enough to stand out at all, but you need to say that the script is once again on a level where it is virtually impossible for any actor to make it work. And the worst is also the consequence that it is difficult to feel anything with the movie that takes itself so seriously all the time and constantly in an unrealistic degree of quantity tries to be so relevant, so important, so shocking, so touching, but the talent simply isn't there in any of these fields and that it also lacks subtlety. It's a film for the dumb, the easily entertained who see as much importance and epicness in this film as they see in their BILD headlines every day. It's a film that you do not want to see if you have an interest in GDR-themed film, but that you especially want to avoid in that scenario. 3 hours of short-comings and make-believe. Don't watch.
