TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Hadrina The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Leoni Haney Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
Tobias Burrows It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Maria_MT I don't know why this show was cancelled. This will always be the best show I've ever watched. I can watch endless reruns. It makes one laugh it makes one cry and it makes one empathize with the characters. The Gray family and other main characters are so well sketched out that one loves them all like family. I especially like the dynamic between Bruce and Amy on one hand and Maxine and Sean on the other. Stellar performances all round on this show. One of the best things is that almost the entire cast remains unchanged through all the seasons. I am from India and don't know much about the juvenile justice system in the USA and I am not sure how true to life the cases are - but they make you sit up and notice, they make you cry at times and at times they make you want to cheer. The last few episodes were a rushed job. My only complaint is that Bruce and Amy should have ended up together and they didn't though there is a lovely teaser in the last episode. I guess the rush job happened because of the show ending as it did. And when will it be released on DVD? I would love to own the boxed set...why don't they make it available on Amazon? I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Dark_liquid This show is on my list of all-time favorites. It seems like Amy is the major attraction, but the real star of this show is Tyne Daly. She is incredible both at portraying her character as a strong self-aware woman, as well as a woman with a gentle, many times broken heart. She's simply draws you to the screen, this crazy yet lovely and witty old lady. On the other hand, Amy seems a bit blank and awkward. How is it possible that she is so messed up and confused in her private life, kind of insecure while raising up her daughter, and lifeless in the family atmosphere, and then somehow when she walks in the office and her courtroom, she transforms into a incredible independent and brave woman, a true hero? But nevermind that, i love the show because of the great stories, absolutely plausible in real life, which make you think, and then think again. Life is rough. And Maxine Gray should know about it pretty good.
slb81 Judging Amy is my favorite show to watch on reruns. I couldn't believe that the season ended last year without renewal. Does anyone know why? I joined this in order to ask that question. What was really interesting to me about this show is that I didn't like most of the characters. The only one that I could really identify with was Maxine. I just loved her character, not to mention that I love Tyne Daly. The fact that I didn't like the characters made the show really fun to watch because it was so much like real life. The writing was excellent and the stories were compelling. I really miss this family and their constituents. I taped many of the episodes so that when they disappear from reruns I can still watch and not feel like something is missing in my life. I also had the same feeling about Homicide when it ended. Seems like most of the excellent show on TV go off just when I discover how good they are and I end up watching reruns.
misstrish58 Yes, I am curious to know if the rumors that I've heard have any merit to them. Has the show Judging Amy been canceled for the new season beginning Fall 2006? I love this action packed, excellently written/directed show by Amy Brenneman. Just love all the characters/plots to the various episodes. Please respond to my question. So looking forward to a new Season w/Judging Amy.........with Tyne Daly. I have watched the show since it's onset. The plots and scenario's are very true to life issues in everyone life, all walks financial/racial boundaries. I would be ever so disappointed it all we are left with are re-runs and no future for the show.....and crew. EXCELLENTE!!!! Misstrish58
