SteinMo What a freaking movie. So many twists and turns. Absolutely intense from start to finish.
Ogosmith Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
filippaberry84 I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Bessie Smyth Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
cindi-131-777018 I read lists of new shows and try most of them out, but only a few percentage make my cut. I had never heard of this one, so I doubt it was advertised much. A friend just told me how great it was and we binge watched it, her for the second time. It's so good! I can't believe it was canceled. Great characters, acting, funny, with great music and history of the late 60's.
christy-66858 I have totally underestimated Prime series! I was sick one day and totally caught up on my Tivo'd shows and decided to browse Prime series. I ended up binge watching all 10 episodes over two days. This show, story line adaptation and cast was AMAZING. I hope this gets picked up again.
jenniferhrossiter Honestly one of the best shows I've watched in a very long time. It combines talking about important issues, with great characters and interesting story lines so well. It's empowering, but also enjoyable to watch, making it a must see for everyone! The characters are flawed, realistic, and so relatable, and the stories told succeed in drawing you in. The main focus of his show is about women's fight to have equal rights in many arenas, but primarily in the work place, and we see different characters react to this fight in many different ways. It isn't, however, focused solely on this and viewers get transported back to Harlem and have an insight into the black panther movement, as well as experiencing various other aspects of the counterculture of the 1960s such as free love, the use of psychoactive drugs and the increased resistance against the Vietnam war. Significant praise has to be given to the actors in this show, the three main women, played by Genevieve Angelson, Anna Camp and Erin Drake are wonderful, and are supported by an also incredible cast. Other notable performances are that of Reggie Watkins as leader of the black panther party, and Joy Bryant and Grace Gummer portraying the real life characters of Eleanor Holmes Norton and Nora Ephron.
bbhim-220-201080 All the women in the show shine, but every male character needs to be re-cast. At first I wondered if that was part of the show's shtick, but after 10 episodes, I'm convinced the casting directors were diligent to cast the women, and then didn't care who filled the male roles. I feel like the male characters are first-timers "acting" in a poorly written high school play, while the women were cast for a successful TV show. Fix the problem with the poor male actors (Doug's OK), and then you'll have a hit! The males are bringing down the quality of what could be a stellar show. It's hard not to compare the show to Mad Men, but that show was clearly about the men - but it also had a stellar female cast. I'm looking forward to future seasons - there is a lot of material and history to cover, and if done well, could be a 10-star show.
