Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

Judith Ivey has never really found a proper outlet for her surprising blend of "redneck savvy." With one of the thickest Texas accents around (when she lets it all hang out), she manages to make just about any tart observation or zinger twice as funny just by larding it with her ingratiating twang. She has unfortunately never had adequate surroundings to make full use of this unique talent. "Down Home" was a decent try, with Ivey's character trying to run her father's bait shop/diner surrounded by her father, brother, and assorted habitues of the small Texas coastal town; unfortunately, the show wasn't funny enough to catch on quickly, and NBC wasn't blessed with much patience.
