Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Teddie Blake The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Haven Kaycee It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
rufus_ma Quintessentially English, gentle comedy with fine acting and good humour. Each character is perfectly portrayed from the main two 'lads' to Lance's money grabbing ex wife. Even the music score is spot on, fitting the rustic scenery perfectly. Makes me feel homesick for blighty.
steve-kettel Detectorists really is one of the greats, it deserves to be up there in the canon of British comedy. It's uniquely understated, quintessentially British without being at all jingoistic, and most importantly: it is laugh out loud hilarious. I can't recommend highly enough, I love it.
ldwp-36923 As slow as you go! Mackenzie Crook has cooked up a beautiful slow moving series of which you feel the old charm of British Society. Impecable acting from all and well made by the Beeb. I certainly hope that this is not the last of this series. If it is I hope that Mackenzie pens another programme on a similar note with Toby Jones as they seem to have some real chemistry together to inspire 21st century comedy from the Brits. Toby Jones & Mackenzie Crook make this show look effortless and inspiring. I am now considering getting a metal detector and keeping a look out for Magpies in trees.
bobfromdorset Like a great wine this has improved with each season, we are now part way through season 3 and I continue to sit waiting each episode with eager anticipation, its entertainment as it used to be with every actor performing to the enth degree. Subtle humour with many enjoyable plot threads and beautiful scenery.
