Sober-Friend Okay I am late to the party but Steve & I discovered a great show that you can stream on Netflix. The show is called "Damages". Glenn Close stars as lawyer with a win "At All Cost Attitude". The show is riveting. Glenn Close proves she is one the best actors we have today. If you never have seen the show start watching and get back to me.Trust me with all the garbage produced today (Both on Television and theatrical) it is very hard to believe that a show of this quality was made. I don't think this show would of been as good had it been made for one of the broadcast networks. They interfere too much and would have demanded that everyone would be "likable". In this show you don't like most of the people.

timcurryis god Movie lovers of the X generation (and before) will recall Glenn Close's performance in The Big Chill, and The World According to Garp; she was a heroine, we were always cheering for her character, who showed courage in the face of societal mores and judgement, and a maternal understanding and stalwart friendship to those around her. So by the time we had a glimpse of Close in Fatal Attraction, we were stunned by this actress's ability to perform with chameleon- like adaptability and convey a spectrum of emotions and motives. Simply enthralling! ************bit of character description spoiler************* * * * Viewers will be delighted to watch Close in Damages; to see her once again portray a villainous leading role. But a nuanced one. This is sort of like The Paper Chase Goes to Hell. Close simply makes this series absolutely addictive. Ted Danson also gives a great performance as defendant Arthur Frobisher~ unscrupulous billionaire sued for stealing the pensions of his employees. Fun trivia kind of thing: the actor who plays defending attorney, Ray Fiske~ Zeljko Ivanek ~starred in an X Files episode, "Roland," where he played Roland Fuller, an autistic janitor, season one, episode 23. Ivanek's performance in this X-files episode from 1994 is poignant and memorable. Just as his performance in season one of "Damages" is. I love this compelling actor. *************Very enthralling series to view, Close is simply perfection. Very satisfying entertainment and great writing. Just two more spoilers: * * * William Hurt is in season 2! I call that a spoiler b/c it was so much fun being surprised by that! Close and Hurt were in The Big Chill together and it is really fun to see them act together here. Also: after season 3, I have to admit, the writing and storyline is not nearly as compelling, and really I don't have much interest in finishing episode 1 of season 4. It began with a REALLY long, boring, kind of meaningless scene and no Glenn Close, so that really sucked. But seasons 1~3 AWESOME!

Rodrigo Smithian I loved this show for some many reasons, the cast is great, the plot, the intro theme, OMG...this show is all I wanted to watch. It's hard to believe the fact "DAMAGES" is rated 8.1 and "SUITS" 8.7, In my humble opinion, DAMAGES gets my 9.7 Vs. SUITS gets my 6.0.Many people hate this show because the story goes back & forth. I like puzzles, and this drama puts you on the edge.Glenn Close and Rose Byrne: Blows my mind. Another great actors appeared like Lily Tomlin,Ted Danson, John Goodman and Martin Shorts (all comedians) turn into evil characters- AMAZIING.Patty Hewes is evil indeed, no one can play better than Glenn Close.This show is cool: Murders, Revenge, Intrigue, Sex, Bad Dreams, all in a litigators drama. A very addictive show indeed.

gmpublisher Watched the first 52 minutes of Season 1, Episode 1. Right up to the point where the woman finds her dog, Saffron, slaughtered on her kitchen floor. I refuse to watch any movie or TV series where they kill the pet. Big turn-off. Now, having said that, I will say that I was very disappointed for that to occur. Up to that point, I was drawn in to the characters and the story. Unfortunately, using the killing of the dog indicated weakness in the story development. It's a device used to shock viewers and engender anger toward the antagonists. This is especially annoying when an otherwise quality production needlessly falls back on a manipulative plot element like this.
