Incannerax What a waste of my time!!!
Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
    Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
Payno I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
grandmabrat I don't understand all the bad reviews, but then they usually say they gave up watching early on. I went all the way through it and wish there would be another season or two. I don't know what they think is 'well written' but I enjoyed most of the plot and scenes. Only the sexy scenes were not to my liking and felt as if they were put in to make things more 'exciting'. The last episode was the best way to end things. I didn't feel cheated or let down. I really liked the scenes in the hotel. It was interesting to see the challenges after the war that we never really see made into a series or a movie. I think the story message to me was that people in a difficult situation don't always do the right thing. They aren't always brave and sometimes they are just plain overwhelmed. And that is whether you are on the winning side or the losing side.
Tamas Marcuis This may not have been the best drama ever produced, an understatement. But it does seem to have tried to as believably as possible show just how the British authorities excused themselves from pursuing the worst criminals this world has yet seen, in a stupid vainglorious attempt to claw back their faded imperial grandeur. We may sneer at the idea that this happened. It did. With the flesh still rotting on the murdered peoples corpses those in power in Britain waved away the smell and got on with business like nothing had happened. So if this made some true blue Brits uncomfortable and compelled them to write angry hateful reviews, then it did its purpose as a piece of drama very well. So anyone who felt it necessary to jump online to write a tirade has been made to feel outrage by what they "claimed" to be poor work or "worthless" or "a waste of money". If it was why did it move you so? Why not just change the channel or go watch YouTube?
david hollyfield This will be my first review on IMDb. I'm compelled to write after reading some of the negative reviews of this series. The vitriolic, spiteful comments made by some reviewers leads me to believe that this series must have gone straight over their heads.Stylistically, script, plot, Mise en scene, characterization, acting, direction were all superb. I found myself totally immersed from the first episode. The period setting and costumes created a totally believable world for me.This is my first exposure to the work of Poliakoff, and I will make a point of looking out for his work in future.I honestly don't understand the degree of loathing he seems to have inspired in some viewers. Maybe they need their drama to be a little more pedestrian, a little more 'action packed'? A little more formulaic? One of their main criticisms was a lack of 'reality'. Are they forgetting that this is fiction and not a documentary?I personally found the degree of dramatic tension and suspense was almost unbearable at times. I can't see what anyone found lacking. The series also raised some interesting moral dilemmas. This is the sort of viewing that I pause often, to draw it out because I don't want it to end.I think the haters must have missed the subtlety of this series.Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth.
fastfred-78611 I totally agree with Dave Mason from the UK. Victor was Norman Bates. Every scene Freddie Hightower was in was just like watching him in Bates Motel. Type casting is one thing but this was unacceptable. I was glad when he tried to top himself. I loved the story. I loved the music. If not for Freddie Hightower I would have given it a 10. I was a little shocked to not see more reviewers mentioning the Victor Norman similarity. To be fair I also think Freddie is the weakest thing in Bates Motel. Enough about Freddie. I love UK TV and find it more stimulating than the run of the mill predictable US offerings. This show has much to be appreciated. Just try to let the type casting not turn you off.
