One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

I love Mani Ratnam films. Especially the love films. I just this movie in Zee channel. I saw a Telugu film (Sainikudu) two days back with the same message (youth to enter & clean politics). With that movie still fresh in my mind, I throughly enjoyed this one.+ Points: cast, acting, editing, screenplay, acting, music, climax - Points: camera (at some places)The film is authentic, glamorous, purposeful and doesn't waste anyone's money & time. I was disappointed when MR's DilSe failed at Box office and is not as good as Bombay. But now I am happy that Yuva has filled the gap. I got a feeling like the entire cast came competing with others to grab the roles and also competed with each other while giving the performances. Despite having 6 leading bollywood stars in the movie, there is not a scene where an actor's image outside the story felt. This movie, like Swades, suggests youth especially the upper middle class to consider staying back in India and help the society. I liked the message.

The main reasons to watch this film are Mani Ratnam, A.R.Rahman, and Abishek Bachan. There is not much of a story but the screenplay is awesome. The way Mani shows the three men from different walks of life meet on a bridge three times and their flashbacks is refreshingly new.I think it should have been publicized well before they released this film. It deserved a hit.I have also seen the Telugu version, in which Madhavan's performance is outstanding. All in all, a new cinematic experience.

Yuva is a surprisingly good movie, well underrated. It has a unique script for a change, telling three different stories combining in one. Three different characters, how they meet and what happens after they meet. It starts of with the first character Abishek Bachchan. Abishek is a small time goon, trying to make big bucks. He loves his wife Rani, but also beats her up. Character Two is Ajay Devgan, a student trying to tackle the corrupt politicians with a new organisation. Ajay is dating french teaching teacher Esha Deol. Character Three is Vivek Oberoi, a youth who's trying to make a career. He is in love with Kareena. The movie has some great moments, with good action scenes. Abishek Bachchan delivers a Brilliant performance, in one of his greatest award winning roles, that took him to stardom. Rani Mukherjee is sweet and Superb as usual, in a powerful performance sweeping the awards. Ajay Devgan delivers a usual good performance once again. Esha Deol looks a little prettier, in a decent role. Vivek gives a impressive performance. Kareena gives an annoying performance, with enough make up, she doesn't look pretty in this movie at all. This is a worth watching movie.

Yuva is a sheer waste of time. Apart from Abhishek's performance, there is nothing to watch. There are too many characters in the movie and which makes it very irritating to watch, especially Kareena. The movie has absolute zero entertainment value and it is filled with unnecessary violence. The movie doesn't even seem motivating in any sense to the youth. The characters look so unreal that many times it made me think that how can someone take this movie seriously. You got to be insane to appreciate this movie as good one. I am rating it as 1 just because I couldn't find any negative ratings in the drop down menu. Otherwise it deserves -5.
