Up the Creek Trailers

Bob McGraw is in his 12th year of college, goofing his way through life. Bob, Irwing, Gonzer and Max are the four losers forced and bribed to represent their university in an intercollegiate raft race. Forced and bribed into this role, they make some friends, the lovely Heather Merriweather, but mostly enemies, among others a whole team of marines, and preppy IVY-leaguers determined to win.

Reviews
Taraparain Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
Seraherrera The movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity
Bessie Smyth Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
Quiet Muffin This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
a_chinn I'll say up front that this film is really more of a 2 1/2 -star comedy, but it gets an extra half star for pure 1980s nostalgia. In a classic Slobs vs. Snobs comedy set up, with perennial college students Tim Matheson and Stephen Furst and a couple other buddies facing off against other snooty teams (ugh, preppies!) in an intercollegiate rafting race, while also wooing pretty all girl teams, but mostly Jennifer Runyon. Overall, there are a lot better of slobs vs snobs films (i.e. "Animal House," "Revenge of the Nerds," "Caddyshack," or even "DC Cab"), but "Up the Creek" isn't all that bad.
preppy-3 Bob (Tim Matheson), Gonzer (Stephen Furst), Max (Dan Monahan) and Irwin (Sandy Helberg) are four total losers in college. Their dean (John Hillerman slumming) orders them to compete against other colleges in a white water raft race. Predictable shenanigans ensure. An "Animal House" clone but, FOR WHAT IT IS, not bad. There's plenty of buff, shirtless guys and girls in skimpy bikinis--or sometimes topless. There's some nice photography, a GREAT title tune and a likable cast. Matheson doesn't take the role (or film) seriously and is just great--laid-back and quite funny. Furst is just OK; Monahan is good but given nothing to do and Helberg gets annoying REAL quick. Jennifer Runyon pops up as the love interest and is good---very pretty and having fun with her role. This is a silly movie with a stupid plot and some REAL bad jokes (most involve a commando outfit trying to sabotage the race) but a likable cast and a few good jokes make this fun to watch in a turn-off-your-brain way. Slightly recommended.
ericolsen1953 Why would somebody make a comedy movie that's not funny? Maybe they changed directors mid-stream, or there was a death among the principal technicians and someone else had to edit or whatever. But, this movie is just not funny; even though the script keeps telling you how side-splitting it is, and how you're enjoying it more than you did "Animal House" or "Porky's". Even worldly sophisticates like George Plimpton or Wm F. Buckley like slapstick, sophomoric sex jokes and watching drunk frat-boys being jerks as much as the next guy. We keep looking for some in this poorly-done piece of crap and are more disappointed than the first audience that saw "Plan 9 From Outer Space." The worst scene of the film sticks with me, two beautiful girls enter a nightclub full of elligible dudes and no other women (yes, the story is supposed to be about a whitewater-rafting trip!); they looks about feigning sexual hunger and one of them says "Take NO prisoners". Like the rest of this awful film: is that supposed to be funny? Or sexy? You just feel sorry for the actors, technicians and investors while you're miffed at the directors and producers.
