Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

dandbone I enjoyed this. Sure, there were cliches typical to this type of movie, but the acting was competent and the story was well written. There are twists and turns, friends turned foes, as expected from this type of movies. There is also a subtext that maybe not all immigrants came to murder the first born of the locals in Western countries, and maybe some of these terrorists are sponsored or helped by our own secret services/army and political parties. This probably came as a shock to everyone under 5 who watched this movie, hence the low rating on this site.There is also a feminist angle to this movie, as the heroine takes twice the physical abuse of an MMA fighter during a season, and she still survives with the makeup intact.

However, her mentor Eric Lasch (Michael Douglas) persuades her to return to active duty to deal with the case of a London Imam who is apparently using young couriers to rendezvous with others to commit terrorist acts. However, after a subject is apprehended, she is plunged into a nightmarish scenario, unable to tell friend from foe, along with mysterious former marine Jack Alcott (Orlando Bloom) who she first meets breaking into her home.This current affairs themed thriller was received in a lukewarmish way and disappeared from theatres pretty quickly in the UK. Seasoned director Michael Apted has assembled an all star cast, of varying new and old talent, in a suspense tale torn from today's headlines. As is the way, the older, more established talent, including John Malkovich and Toni Collette, are pushed to the side in favour of the younger talent, although even the still fairly fresh Bloom takes a good three quarters of an hour or so to make his appearance.It's an intricate tale, full of twists and turns, red herrings and double crosses, and on this front, Apted has done a good job. But while it's not unthrilling, it's just never as suspenseful or exciting as it wants to be, and can never claim to have you on the edge of your seat. By the end, it's gotten a little carried away with itself, and just become too convoluted to have any effect. By the end, everything's not become unlocked so much as mildly unscrambled.If you fancy putting your mind to good use, it's a fairly rewarding way to spend an hour and a half or so, but if you watch it more than once, you must have very strange tastes. ***

Kelvin Richard No rocket science, just good ol plain and simple riveting entertainment, loads of action and tension with good and convincing performances by Naomi Rapace, Orlando Bloom and Michael Douglas. I shall not elaborate on the plot or action to avoid spoiling it for you, watch it, you shall not be disappointed.

Lee Eisenberg It's hard to tell what position Michael Apted's "Unlocked" is taking. It's about agents trying to stop terrorists, but since that sort of plot could draw allegations of racism or xenophobia, they tried to make it centrist. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun movie with all the twists and turns. I'd just like to see a movie delve deep into what causes terrorism in the first place. There are references to that topic here, but it's a topic that needs to get addressed in depth. No matter, the movie still features fine performances. I do hope that Noomi Rapace gets roles more like Lisbeth Salander, though.As for Michael Apted, his best movies are the Up series, "Coal Miner's Daughter", "Gorillas in the Mist", "Thunderheart" and "Amazing Grace". I understand that his 1974 movie "Stardust" (about the rise and fall of a rock star) was also great, but unfortunately it's not available for home viewing.
