Trick or Treat Trailers

Eddie Weinbauer, a metalhead teen who is bullied at school, looks to his heavy metal superstar idol, Sammi Curr, for guidance. When Curr is killed in a hotel fire, Eddie becomes the recipient of the only copy of Curr's unreleased album, which, when played backwards, brings Sammi back to life. As Halloween approaches, Eddie begins to realize that this isn't only rock 'n roll...it's life and death.

Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Catangro After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.
Wuchak I've heard about 1986' "Trick or Treat" for years, but didn't get around to seeing it until last night. It's a teen dramedy/horror flick mixing elements of "Christine," "Carrie" and the Freddy Krueger movies, but it strangely never attained the popularity of those films, which explains why there was never a sequel. Like "Christine" and "Carrie," the plot revolves around a semi-outcast in high school being persecuted by the popular crowd and the compulsion to get revenge. In this case, metalhead Eddie Weinbauer (Marc Price) enlists the aid of a dead satanic rock star, Sammi Curr, through the backmasking on a special edition of one of Curr's albums.Gene Simmons of KISS appears as a DJ for a few minutes and Ozzy Osbourne has two scenes as a conservative preacher denouncing rock/metal for a total of a minute.Lisa Orgolini and Elise Richards, both beautiful, stand out as the two main girls in the story, although they shoulda done more with both. The songs on the soundtrack are by Fastway and are reminiscent of mid-80's bands like AC/DC, KISS and Motley Crue. They're simple-yet-catchy hair metal ditties with the corresponding hanging chords and anthemic choruses. BOTTOM LINE: While "Trick or Treat" isn't technically as good as "Christine" or "Carrie," it's not far off and it's on par with the Freddy Krueger movies I've seen. The villain — the semi-resurrected Sammi Curr — is great; he looks and behaves like a mixture of Gene Simmons, Dee Snyder, Blackie Lawless, Nikki Sixx and King Diamond. Too bad the movie didn't become a franchise because Sammi Curr has the ee-vil charisma to give Freddy Krueger a run for his money. While the set-up of the story is compelling, the second half fumbles a bit, but this is made up by the two girls and the rockin' mid-80's soundtrack. The film runs 98 minutes and was shot in Wilmington, NC.GRADE: B+
Pulp Culture Trick or Treat (1986) Director : Charles Martin Smith Starring: Marc Price, Tony Fields & Lisa OrgoliniEddie Weinbauer is a typical all-American teenager. At least he was until he fell under the evil spell of ROCK MUSIC!Now he's obsessed with the recently deceased Heavy Metal superstar Sammi Curr and as Halloween approaches, Eddie begins to realise this isn't only Rock "N" Roll…it's life or death!Trick or Treat combines horror, comedy and Heavy Metal into an entertaining brew. The handling of Eddie's humiliation at the hands of the hated jocks and his feelings of isolation is well done, while the scene where the recently resurrected Sammi Curr lays siege to the high school Halloween party is reminiscent of "Carrie". Throw in cameos from rock legends Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne and a rocking soundtrack from the band "Fastway "and you have a great slice of 80's cinema! As rock-hating TV evangelist Reverend Aaron Gilstrom (Ozzy Osbourne) says after the credits roll "This could kick you off into being an absolute pervert".
Pisach The only thing that kept the movie going was it's connection with 80's metal. Trick or treated will always be among my top 5 "Worst movies ever made." I mean I am a orthodox 80's traditional metal fan, but still the movie failed to appeal to me. Average acting, a very stupid plot, Sammy Curr looks more like a loser Zombie than a metal god. But, the sole thing that really widened my eyes was EDWARD'S ROOM, a treat to any metal head's eyes. I bet my own arse THAT EXACTLY is the dream abode of any metal fan (ain't talking for you BFMV, Slipknot, Djent fans). Every thing about his room is swell, right from his stereo system, magazine collection, toys and antiques here and there. . And this guy had SOME posters man, Anthrax, Motley Crue, Motorhead, Alcoholica, dot dot dot. .And Jezz ! He owned Unveiling the Wicked (Exciter) and Killing is my Business in vinyl. . He's one lucky chap. And yes, the sound track is kick arse, all hail Fastway.
The_Void It's silly, not very original and about as far away from 'high quality' as you can get, but all that stuff aside; Trick or Treat is at least an entertaining piece of crap, and I wouldn't have asked for more going into it. The film seems to take influence from 'outsider getting their own back' films such as Stephen King's Carrie (among many others), as well as Wes Craven's popular modern classic 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' as it features an evil entity being brought back from the dead via unusual means. This is all mixed in with a heavy metal soundtrack and themes coming from the insanely silly case involving Judas Priest about records harbouring secret messages when played backwards. The plot focuses on Eddie Weinbauer; a heavy metal loving outcast who is devastated when his favourite rock star dies tragically in a hotel fire. Not content to just let it go, Eddie begins playing one of the dead rockers records backwards, and soon realises that he can communicate with him through said record. It's not long before Eddie is using his new found powers to get revenge on all those that wronged him...Naturally, this film has all manner of plot holes; but you can hardly fault it for that as Trick or Treat makes no attempt to be a 'serious' horror film anyway, and the film is much more fun to watch if you forget about any plot problems. It's clear that director Charles Martin Smith has a sense of humour; this is shown best during a hilarious sequence involving Ozzy Osbourne and a cameo as an anti-heavy metal priest! I cant really say that this film is 'about' heavy metal, but the music style at the centre does play more of a role than simply being a backdrop for the silly story; though if it's trying to make any sort of point, I'm not really sure what it is as the film pokes fun at those that condemn metal; but then features a heavy metal singer as the lead villain. Anyway, it's not too important. The film does feature a few good and interesting set-pieces, though there is a lack of blood and gore as the director seems to prefer dodgy eighties special effects. Anyway, this is hardly a great film and I doubt I'll remember much about it in a few weeks time; but its fun enough and I did enjoy it.
