An adventure, drama and western movie right? well none of those 3 are present in the end of this film and i guess why should they even be present right? This movie was literally way to slow and just way to boring but people who like movies about treasures might enjoy it although don't expect the 1948's version of Indiana Jones cause this movie ain't on that level or any level i guess in the end... hoffmanmnd I see over 110 critics... you are out of your mind... this is a must see movie for anyone who is serious about the art. There are technical errors mostly due to shooting in Mexico, but the story is what counts This story took place in 1925 Mexico. It was made post WWII in 1947 when people were tired of the truth of inhumanity... they did not need to reminded of it, and the film suffered for that somewhat commercially. Huston won best director (Not Picture though). This was Stanley Kubrick's fourth favorite film of all time. Did I say Stanley Kubrick?I am surprised this is even remotely considered a western... it is not. It is a great, masterful period piece, but not what I would call a western. To me, it is truth of human nature.... sorry... but it is the truth. Some find it offensive and disturbing .. some like myself see it as the simple truth.Watch it.

Ivan Lalic Bogart's career has been overrated from its very beginnings, promoting him into an acclaimed actor much faster than he deserved with some serious role on the silver screen. Such a role finally came with John Huston's „The treasure of Sierra Madre", a rough script about the effects of the „golden rush" on three typical American thugs. True grit as it is, the story drew the best from the actors, resulting in some memorable scenes and everlasting messages at the very end. „The treasure of Sierra Madre" is a serious movie and the most serious role of Bogart's career.
