At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

I'm not adopted, but this film somehow made me experience those feelings, while capturing the Asian culture spot on.
I was sucked into this film, with its use of tempo shifts, emotions, scenery and characters, in a way that just works.
