Reviews
RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
ChanFamous I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Wyatt There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
siriusandblackbear It wasn't that bad, it wasn't that great. The alternate ending makes more sense than the real ending, BUT major ick factor. I think I threw up in my mouth a little, to be honest. I can see why they didn't use it. I think it was the original ending and they only half fixed the rest of the movie to make up the difference in time. I would say they wrote it as 25 years and changed it to 15. Horrible job at age progression, makes the movie confusing as it ages some drastically and others not at all. I don't personally believe in reincarnation or possession, and this film sort of blends/confuses the two. Sarah was actually quite good but it's not a role that demands a ton of talent. Check out the alt ending, it works better(keeping that extra 10 years in mind or its criminal) but it'll still make you go ewww.I was generous with stars because others were stingy. If they actually used the creepy alternate ending, 2 stars, 4 since they didn't and it got 6 from me because of how many harsh 1 stars it got.
LeonLouisRicci Unfairly maligned this Mysterious Supernatural Thriller is probably much too cerebral, subtle and low-key for Horror Movie Fans and not sophisticated enough for the, well, Sophisticates. Slowly becoming typecast Gellar mumbles more than usual but is adequate as a very confused and haunted Girl who has been that way since her car accident when she was a child. It is a confusing trip that She and the Audience are put through and it works somewhat in a disorienting and disconnecting kind of way. The Movie displays an abundance of Atmospheric and Creepy landscapes and sets but there are unnecessary side Characters who are there for, who knows? The ending has been criticized for being ambiguous but it is really a simple Denouement with just a bit of thought and while thinking about it, satisfies enough to say, that was strange and a bit scary and reinforces, in a Spiritual sense, the Butterfly Effect.
atinder I order the movie The Resident (2011) and few day later, I get this movie The Return (2006) which never even heard of it, So what hell give A watch. At the start of the movie a Dad is talking His daughter to A funfair but start here whisper of a man, goes into hiding.Few year later, She start sounds and wearied think to start to happen to her all over again and she start to hear the voice of the man again.I have no idea what was going on at all and they just kept getting more weird and even more confusing. This no horror element in this movie at all, it wasn't scary, or creepy and there was anything really get into the mood of this movie. The acting was descent of everyone but the movie is just time waster. 4 out of 10
Green_Acres The Return is one of those under-appreciated thrillers that was marketed as 'horror'. For horror fans, beware, The Return does not have gore, it does not have people screaming, or cheesy chase scenes or killers. This is a more sophisticated adult mystery film. The Return is thankfully, different than modern-day thrillers. It has a slow pace, but has very beautiful imagery and cinematography. The acting is solid, and Sarah Michelle Gellar commands the screen with her quiet presence. Many people might feel restless, but at the end, the film's twist relies a lot on character and exposition, and that is why The Return works. It has many themes of life and death, together with some usual scares and some character drama. I was very pleasantly surprised, and I hope The Return gets the recognition it deserves in the future. It is one of the best, and most unique, thrillers of the decade
