At college Paige meets Eddie, a fellow student from Denmark, whom she first dislikes but later accepts, likes, and loves; he proves to be Crown Prince Edvard. Paige follows him to Copenhagen, and he follows her back to school with a plan.Do you remember that moment in time when Julia Stiles was something of an "it" girl? I mean, you know "10 Things I Hate About You" is a modern classic. And I remember liking "Wicked". But then I think people started figuring out she sort of has only one personality and is not really a serious actress. And frankly, she looks sort of weird. Beyond the Bourne movies and a strange miscasting in "The Omen", she faded away.I love that this film takes place in Madison and they even have the rathskeller, yet it was not filmed at all in Madison. Seems like it would have been nice to get some real exterior shots of the Madison campus rather than fat guys eating chips. If you know that Madison has a rathskeller, you have probably been there.

Wisconsin university student Paige Morgan (Julia Stiles) has her life planned out. She's the last of her friends to get married. It's all about her studies and her need to get into med school at Johns Hopkins. Eddie (Luke Mably) is the spoiled pampered heir to the royal throne of Denmark. He lives a sheltered life. After seeing a "The Girls of Wisconsin" commercial on TV, he decides to go to university in Wisconsin incognito. His parents are exasperated. He is accompanied by man servant Soren. He is quickly taken with Paige who's working as a bartender. She finds him annoying but he turns up at her class and becomes her permanent lab partner. She doesn't know his position. Of course she eventually falls for him. Then they're ambushed by a couple of paparazzi. Eddie is hopelessly ridiculous and stupid. I guess he is the male version of the adorable clueless princess. It doesn't work at all. It makes him an utterly annoying douche. Julia Stiles is lovely and stops this from being completely unlikeable. Luke Mably doesn't come off at all well. Lucky for him, Julia is good enough to sell this love story by herself. As Eddie's personality improves, the romance does improve. If he started with a nice personality, this would such a better movie and the chemistry would be so much better.

I don't think this has any spoilers, but I'll check that box just to be safe. Okay. It's a cute movie. I like it, it's definitely a great feel good movie for teenage girls/ young women. But being a Wisconsinite (born and raised) I really don't enjoy how they portray not only my state, but the people in my state. First off, we do not wear that much plaid and/or flannel and yes there is a difference. Second, I have never heard of an actual lawn mower race happening, and I'm about to graduate from a school where a few of the hicks actually drive their tractors to school at the end of the year. It's half because they like their tractors and half because it makes the whole school smell like manure. We do have tractor pulls where there's one concession stand run by our FFA members and no charming lines of hay bales. Also, that farm in the movie is just really bad. Actual farms (especially those barns) are not that clean, and I know this movie is ten years old, but that farm isn't struggling because it's family owned and run, it's struggling because they haven't invested in new, efficient equipment that ends up paying for itself. And I don't live on a farm, so I guess I could be wrong about all this, but my dad did grow up on a farm and my house is surrounded by them, so I'm probably right. Also, a farmer would never let anyone that inexperienced try to calm/direct their cows. That's a major injury and possible lawsuit on their hands. Also, her two brothers seem so... idiotic. I don't know if that was on purpose, and if it was then I don't know if it was because they're farm boys, but it really bothers me. My dad and his 13 siblings grew up on their farm, and now as adults all of them are successful and at least two of them are millionaires, just like one of my favorite neighbors, who's actually a farmer worth millions of dollars, all from working his family owned and run farm. That's about all I can think of, otherwise it's pretty cute. Just, please take everything with a grain of salt!

Pretty Wisconsin college student Julia Stiles (as Paige Morgan) is studying to be a doctor. Meanwhile, the Prince of Denmark, handsome Luke Mably (as Edvard "Eddie" Dangaard), sees a (censored) "Girls Gone Wild" ad on television. Wanting to see college girls flash their breasts, Mr. Mably enrolls in Wisconsin as an exchange student. He decides to keep his princely status a secret. Mably meets Ms. Stiles and asks to see her bosom. She reacts angrily. Mably shows interest in no other women. He helps Stiles interpret Shakespeare and she helps him stay awake in Chemistry.
