The Keeping Room Trailers

In this radically reimagined American Western set towards the end of the Civil War, Southerner Augusta encounters two renegade, drunken soldiers who are on a mission of pillage and violence. After escaping an attempted assault, Augusta races back to the isolated farmhouse that she shares with her sister Louise and their female slave Mad. When the pair of soldiers track Augusta down intent on exacting revenge, the trio of women are forced to take up arms to fend off their assailants, finding ways to resourcefully defend their home––and themselves––as the escalating attacks become more unpredictable and relentless.

Joanna Mccarty Amazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.
Myron Clemons A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
Aidan_Healy This movie was for the most part historically accurate, however lacked a main plot or story. The acting was good and the actors portrayed the time period well enough. Very dramatic and dreary, which adds to the historical accuracy. I overall enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to someone who has some knowledge in the Civil War era.
funny-49108 Good plot and actors. Accurately portrayed the rough life of women in the Civil War Era. Feminist movie with strong female leads. It was overall an enjoyable action packed movie with a lot of violence.
SnoopyStyle It's the last days of the American Civil War. Sisters Augusta (Brit Marling) and Louise (Hailee Steinfeld) live on a farm with their only slave Mad. Two marauding Union soldiers arrive ahead of the main Army. This is a sparse small production. The writing is sparing. The subject matter lends itself for a tougher intensity but it opts for a weary atmosphere. It doesn't flinch from the violence but it doesn't revel in action. It is an indie film overall.
Peyton Reusch I liked this movie and i am surprised that some feel differently towards it. It was very cool to see the war coming from a woman's perspective. It also showed the horrors that women faced trying to defend their homes. It showed how at the end of the civil war how violent and it also showed that women were not respected at this point in history. We noticed that it showed not only the woman's perspective but also the man's. Many could say they viewed the movie as controversial but i viewed it as showing how strong women were in this time period and to show the destruction the civil war caused.I personally recommend this movie for learning purposes as well to get an insight on the different perspectives of the civil war.
