SpunkySelfTwitter It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
Teddie Blake The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "Die goldene Gans" is another German fairytale film from not too long ago. Fiebeler, Brinx and Kömmerling worked on a couple of these, especially the 2 writers, but this one is not a great achievement unfortunately. Maybe one problem is that it runs for almost 90 minutes and thus considerably longer than they usually do. The cast is not bad for a television production. Hasanovic, Naujoks, Krumbiegel and especially Haase, who got me curious about this project, have decent bodies of work, but they cannot elevate the mediocre material here either. Over-the-topness and absurdity are frequent in these fantasy films for German television and usually that is not a problem, but here it is slightly too much for my taste. There was not a single situation where I was really impressed unfortunately. Not a particularly good watch and there are many superior of these fairytale films out there.
