Reviews
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Mehdi Hoffman There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.
jozsefbiro Trendy is the keyword for this easy comedy, which is a remake of a classic from 1934. Remakes of popular movies from the 30's and early 40's seem to be trendy nowadays in the Hungarian film industry (see also Hippolyt from 1999). Obviously, the producers wanted to build on the success of the original story and they could easily do so due to the similarities between 30's and 00's in terms of social trends. Meseautó will be probably a solid financial success (a surprising new trend for Hungarian movies) in the trendy cinema multiplexes because after the decade of overwhelming dominance of Hollywood it is now trendy again to go for local productions (at least the showroom was packed when I saw the movie). Otherwise the movie is rather mediocre, except for a few enjoyable gags.
