CommentsXp Best movie ever!
Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
hellholehorror This is a no budget film and you can tell. But imaginative direction pulled this pile of crap out of the fire and onto my screen. I would say that this was worth watching for its utter silliness, it was like a tacky version of Slither (2006), you know, alien invasion, worms, silliness. Gory alien invasion entertainment with insane ending.
femboi To me what they did with such a low budget is astounding. This movie entertained me all the way through, which in the year 2014 a movie from the 80's can't do anymore.Compare it to 10 million dollar CGI snooze-fests and this movie is GOLD.GOLD I SAY!!! The effects are where the movie stands out.Usually it's a kid with a bucket of fake blood but when it's there, GOD DAMN it's awesome. My final verdict 12/10.Best movie since Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Alucard Venom Recently picked it up on DVD (SE) of this movie that I almost completely forgot. It's gory, to the point that some scenes become hilarious (aka Braindead). There isn't much plot, it's pretty basic, and that's why I liked it. Few people are trapped in a house which is invaded by monster from outer space that wants to eat everyone. It's that simple, but that doesn't mean it isn't lot of fun.Characters aren't all that great, but they are functional. They work within the story, because, let's face it - you're watching this movie to see monster eat somebody. Script starts out fast, and it's fast moving for most of the parts, but there are some moments when movie tends to drag along, like it's trying to fill in the runtime. There's a random scene with grannies and baby aliens that is so over the top that you'll laugh hard. (You have to experience it)Gore is well done for a time period and budget it had. Monster looks great and puppets are well handled. Direction and camera work isn't all that impressive, but it's not terrible. Acting is mixed bag, but it won't matter much. If you're watching movie called "Return of the Aliens: The Deadly Spawn" you're probably horror fan that's use to campy acting in campy movies.5 stars. If you're horror fan, don't miss it.Ps. There's no "first alien" movie. Title was probably made up by distributors to cash-in on Alien movies, much like it's unrelated so- called sequel "Metamorphosis".
queasy-1 I just watched this absolutely weird piece of 80's-No-Budget-Junk and I loved it! Here's why:First of all, it's better than "AVATAR". But that goes without saying. No, seriously: I wouldn't call this a cult-movie and I don't get why some people in this forum compare it to "Evil Dead". It is a homemade horror-movie too and it has some over- the-top gore scenes, but the similarities end right there. Apart from that it is much more a parody of 50's alien films. Have a look at the posters in the hero kid's room and you'll see what the creators had in mind.At times the movie gets quite impressive FX-wise, for example when it comes to the creature scenes in the cellar, which feature great puppetry and theatrical lighting. Once the monsters get out of the dark, the general impression turns from creepy to hilarious, and the showdown is quite disappointing. But still not as bad as "AVATAR".The characters are a bunch of nerdy kids plus some notably ugly grown-ups, and they altogether have some of the weirdest dialogs you'll ever find in a movie.I give this 7 of 10 for being fun from the beginning to end, for fast pacing, great gore-scenes and total weirdness."WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD?"
