The Comedian Trailers

An aging comic icon, Jackie Burke, has seen better days. Despite his efforts to reinvent himself and his comic genius, the audience only wants to know him as the former television character he once played. Already a strain on his younger brother and his wife, Jackie is forced to serve out a sentence doing community service for accosting an audience member. While there, he meets Harmony, the daughter of a sleazy Florida real estate mogul, and the two find inspiration in one another, resulting in surprising consequences.

Reviews
Cubussoli Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!

TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
adonis98-743-186503 Jackie is a comic icon, attempting to reinvent himself despite his audience only wanting to know him as a television character he played earlier in his career. After accosting an audience member, Jackie is sentenced to community service where he meets Harmony Schiltz. The Comedian is far from being De Niro's best worst but it's also far from being his worst. The supporting cast was great DeVito, Keitel and even a small cameo from Billy Crystal. This movie had charisma, it was pretty fun and both De Niro and Mann had a very good chemistry together. (7/10)
susan-317 Not sure what you might expect with this movie, but I happened upon it on cable and fell in love... with Leslie Mann. NO ONE alive can deliver a rant like she does - funny - warm - amazing - and funny again - all at once!In this film she meets De Niro while performing community service and wackiness ensues!I think this movie is totally worth seeing, simply because there are so many funny actors and comedians and because there are so many funny lines sprinkled throughout the film. But mostly see it for Leslie Mann. She's wonderful.
fredtee Terrific move. Funny, if you like anecdotal foul-mouthed humor. Reminds of the Lenny Bruce movie, "Lenny," without the cocaine and sex. Jackie presents a much more sympathetic figure than Lenny.I bet DiNero spent a lot of time prepping for this role, to get the comedic timing right...which he performs better than many professional comedians. The jokes can be considered demeaning to women, which does not fit today's emasculation of men by women who consider a comment on their body as hsexual harassment, and a pinch in their butt as sexual assualt. This may explain the movie's failure at the box office and its quick release to TV.
mleatherwood1 My first review ever, and it's free form. I can't say enough good things about this movie. It's real, the characters are fleshed out so well, the writing is clever, the acting right on the nose. De Niro is a real "go- getter" as Jackie, potential has been trying to make his way in a changing world. Brutally frank in his humor and unwilling to compromise his take on situations that loom up, it's a fine portrayal and one accompanied by a fine supporting cast. I know he spent years trying to get it made and I hope he doesn't feel disappointed over the box office. It's a real triumph in my eyes, I thoroughly enjoyed it, a film with much substance and humanity. By some of the other reviews I can see not everyone feels the same and it was this that, after all these years of reading reviews on the IMDb finally prompted me to write one of my own. Kudos! I loved it. Thank you for the joy it brought to me.
