Leofwine_draca Following in the wake of HALLOWEEN, Jamie Lee Curtis found herself in a number of inferior slasher films inspired by that classic movie. PROM NIGHT and TERROR TRAIN are the best-known examples. TERROR TRAIN is refreshingly different from the other slasher movies of the period (inevitably they all follow a strict, boring sex-and-death formula which quickly becomes tiring after you've seen half-a-dozen) in having an interesting location on which the action is set, but the question is whether this stops the movie being a run-of-the-mill slasher set on a train.The answer is a resounding yes. Basically this movie has everything you need from a slasher; plentiful gore, cheesy and dated fashions, a high death toll, some stalk-and-slash sequences, and even a "is he dead or isn't he?" finale. What comes as the biggest surprise is that this movie actually manages to be scary on the odd occasion, on top of all this. Whether it's the killer's creepy Groucho mask or the suspense-packed sequence in which a victim searches for the murderer in his train compartment, TERROR TRAIN is top-notch stuff which, while derivative of HALLOWEEN, still manages to feel fresh and entertaining unlike the later slashers that came in the mid '80s and rehashed tired formulas over and over.Oddly, this movie keeps the identity of the murderer hidden until the end, which is strange because to anybody who has seen the prologue, it should be pretty clear. The deaths are all different so that they don't become boring, and while they're not particularly graphic they cleverly make you use your imagination to think that you've seen more than you have (for instance, we see a body being crushed by a train briefly but hear plenty of yucky sound effects, and in another instance we see the initial start of a boy's throat being slashed and the movie lets our imagination do the rest). Thus the film appears more gory than it actually is.The sequences in which the train conductor (played by Ben Johnson) discovers the bloody corpses are genuinely frightening and here it is that the movie resembles my favourite 'train' film, HORROR EXPRESS. A bloody severed head provides a nice shock, while Curtis - in her one-on-one with the killer - manages to wound her attacker repeatedly with pain-inducing weapons! The finale sees a literally blood-soaked Curtis battling with the murderer for a final time. This ending may be highly derivative of HALLOWEEN but it's done so well that you can't help liking it.The cast is made of the typical obnoxious teenage types (Hart Bochner plays a particularly despicable character whose death is fully deserved), with the exception of Jamie Lee Curtis, who is as good as ever as the screaming heroine. Ben Johnson provides a touch of real acting and old-world class as the train conductor whom you can feel safe with, while a cheesy-looking David Copperfield is on hand to perform all manner of cool magic tricks - and ends up being repeatedly impaled with swords for his troubles.The spooky score serves to add to the tension, while good photography keeps the movie watchable - even in some of the overlong teen exposition scenes in which nothing happens. Director Roger Spottiswoode (who lately did a Bond film I believe) however shows a firm grasp of pacing, wracking things up to nerve-shattering tension at the end. The emphasis is on shadows and darkness which helps make the movie really frightening and even the pay-off doesn't disappoint. If you can get over the fact that this is a HALLOWEEN rip-off, you'll realise that it's actually one of the best of the bunch and a whole lot of fun.

atinder Terror train 1980 It start of number of teens getting drunk and having party on new years eve but Then a prank goes wrong I thought prank seen looked a little out dated now ( I wish we saw mire if it )!A fews years have gone by and these same kid's go party train There is a lot of party and talking but I didn't find it had much horror The kiss were far to apart in the movie but we do get see magic person Sone of characters were very moody , for most of the movie There some bloody moments in this movie, will some kills , don't really Get to see Them killed but we did see the after math of Death Even they tired to twist and turn but didn't work me as I knew who the killer was from the middle Lol 5 out of 10

Dom Nickson Spoiler Alert!!! I bought this at F.Y.E. not expecting much because I'm a slasher movie fan who realized that these kinds of movies are getting pretty ridiculous. The main reason I decided to pick this one out was that I noticed it has Jaime Lee Curtis the most well known scream queen. This film really wasn't all that good as a storyline I mean I'm still confused on why the heck the killer just snapped and decides to kill people, I'm still confused on what I saw in the opening, and I'm still confused at what this film was trying to do. There was barely any killing, the characters were unlikable, and the killer's identity was pretty obvious with that opening sequence. This film wasn't the worst slasher film ever but it was pretty bad compared to slasher films like Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street. I decided to give this film 4 out of 10 because I liked the costumes, I liked Jamie Lee Curtis, and I liked the setting. Everything else though is just eh.

Brian T. Whitlock (GOWBTW) The college days, fraternity and sorority gathering together for a New Year party. There, they have a young pledge who is very timid, goes to meet this young woman. The woman in the bed though wasn't her, it was a corpse! What happens next is far from funny. He ends up in a mental hospital. Now that they are seniors, the gang have their party, on an steam train. How nice. That is why they call it, "Terror Train". Everyone are supposed to enjoy their last year of college, now suddenly, no one is able to go off into the world. All because of a prank done 3 years earlier. The victim has escaped, and has boarded on the train undetected by anyone. One by one, he gets those responsible in gruesome fashion. But when he confronted Alena (Jamie Lee Curtis), he became very unhinged when he kissed her. It appeared that his act of revenge dominated his judgment, and it really sent him over the edge. Jamie Lee Curtis is known well in "Halloween" and "Prom Night".David Copperfield shed some light with his magic. He made the movie more fun. Riding the can be either fun or scary, this movie has a lot in store. 2 out of 5 stars
