Reviews
Hellen I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Peereddi I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.
Yash Wade Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
lavatch It would be interesting to take a poll and learn if there is a consensus in choosing the most morally reprehensible resident of Sugar Mountain.First, there is the brother named Miles who hikes into the wilderness on the false pretense that he is lost in an Alaskan winter; he thereby endangers the lives of the honest people who form a posse to save him.Second, there is the other brother named Liam who is part of the plot, yet betrays his dear brother by sleeping with his girlfriend as the hoax is unfolding.Third, there is the woman named Lauren who sleeps with both brothers and also seems to be the one coming up with new ideas for a scam to sell lies to the media about her two boyfriends. When she decides to hook up with Liam for a one-nighter, she is doing so with the full knowledge that she is sleeping with her step-brother, which should be factored into the voting.Fourth, there is the local alcoholic sheriff and father of Lauren. He is on to the brothers' scam from the beginning, but is so incompetent that he is unable to arrest them.Fifth, there is the ironically named character Joe Bright. With more brawn than brains, Big Joe is eventually undone by his stupidity, as he seeks to extort money from the two brothers. The list goes on. The only truly likable character is sweet little Angie, who gives up an opportunity to travel to Paris in order pursue a romance with Liam. Unfortunately, Angie drops out of the film before it is half over. While the scenic grandeur of Alaska was apparent in the film, the overall narrative design seemed amateurish. In casting, it was difficult to believe the character relationships: the three young people seemed far too old for their youthful characters, and the sheriff seemed far too young to be Lauren's father. In the DVD version of "Sugar Mountain," there was included a fascinating short documentary entitled "Cold War." It told the story of female snipers originally recruited by Stalin during World War II. Apparently, the women continued to engage in terrorism in Alaska during the Cold War. That story might have served as a more engaging feature film for the producers of "Sugar Mountain."
Tony Heck "He knows the mountains too well no one would believe he got lost. You'd have to do it." Miles (Roy) and Liam (Coffey) are brothers who have been struggling. Looking for ways to make money they decide to fake a disappearance and sell their story. Miles, heads up a mountain while Liam reports him missing. What seems like a quick and easy way to make money soon changes the lives of everyone involved. This is a movie that had such promise. The idea was interesting and had me looking forward to seeing it. What the movie became though was a jumbled mess of plot lines that came from everywhere and made it hard to not only get into but keep from laughing at. This fake disappearance movie contained a hardened un-trusting cop, blackmail, an angry collection thug, false accusations, constantly changing sides and stories, hidden secrets and more family drama than a soap opera. The movie was just too over the place and distracted from the main focus of the movie, but then again it was hard to tell what the main focus was. Overall, a jumbled mess that reminded me of Aloha in the way that there were just too many story lines that didn't seem to fit with each other. That aspect really really hurt what could have been an interesting and tense movie. I give this a C+.
Ink Goes Wild Alaska I liked the movie but I admit I may be biased since I live in the town it was filmed in, Seward, Alaska. I thought the story itself was great. The scenery was the icing on the cake. There was one place, in the movie, that I didn't know the location of (the frozen waterfall) but I got a hold of a friend of mine, who plays the part of Miles and Liam's mother in the movie, and she told me where the spot is located. I'm looking forward to hiking to it. The director, actors, and crew were extremely warm and friendly. Everyone I know, including myself, who had the opportunity to meet them enjoyed having them here.If you enjoy a good drama or are curious to see a little bit of Alaska then this is the movie for you!
djangozelf-12351 Everything was way too obvious in this film and most of it was predictable because the movie already hinted at it. The characters are confusing in their action and a lot of things are brought up but never pushed thru or simply get ignored. It's basically a love triangle story which was already the first most obvious about this and which no one in the movie itself seem to notice. You therefor already know that these relations are twisted so when they start a hoax to sell a story of one of them gone missing in the mountains it is almost a given that things will spiral out of control. The sort of incest reveal at the end did not have much impact and came really to little to late after the message of this movie that everybody lies. In the end you know just as much as the beginning of this movie and there is not much of a resolution or a reward for wasting more then a 100 minutes of my life.I also checked this out for Jason Mamoas acting chops and right now I'm starting to think I'm not gonna like aqua man.The writing on this was lazy and the story so lame they stretched it a lot with long searches for the missing person and to much dialogue what takes away from the one or two plots that there are.At the end the girl gets away best and her white middle-aged cop dad (who also drinks and cheats on his wife) is of the worst because he dies. Were did I hear this story before ? Now I remember it was in every movie made this year. The 2 rating was for the different scenery and the cinematography which gets wasted in this uninspiring story or script. It's not worthy for your time or money. Your better of watching anything else, really.
