This is for the first time I am writing a review for a movie. How do I differ a bad or good movie? Usually, if I can't watch a movie more than ten minutes, then it's a bad movie to me. If it is good I watch it until the end and enjoy the movie. Running for Grace is an amazing movie. I wished to watch more because it finished so quickly. This is what happens with a good movie. OK, I'm biased because I live on the Big Island where this was filmed. Still, I give the movie a great review because even though it is a somewhat simple love story, it does blends in other aspects of Hawaii life back then.The movie is a feel-good love story and it is worth seeing. I actually bough tickets and took friends.Because it was filmed here, almost everyone in the theater waited through all the credits to see who they knew. At one point in the film I saw some farmland and realized that I had been in that spot a few months back.

"Running for Grace" is like finding a jewel in the middle of an ordinary day. Filmed among the most breathtaking views in the Hawaiian Islands, director/writer, David Cunningham, has once again captured the amazing strength and resilience of the human spirit in this movie. Similar to earlier works like "To End All Wars," starring Kiefer Sutherland and Robert Carlyle, Cunningham's characters face injustice, prejudices, and hatred, not unlike those we all face at one time or another. Yet, we are reminded that the human spirit can love and dream in spite of such challenges. Ryan Potter as "Joe" and Matt Dillon as "Doc" bring star performances to their roles, and Jim Caviezel as "Reyes" is the perfect antagonist. "Running for Grace" provides an experience rich in Hawaiian culture and its history. It's a treasure to be explored by the entire family!

I totally LOVED this movie!!! Incredibly beautiful scenery (great to see it on the big screen), and great story-line with good moral content (pro-adoption, anti-prejudice) and all the right elements of love, action, historical accuracy for early 20th century Hawaii, and conflict between good and evil. Matt Dillon's acting was epic...as was Cole (young Jo, the medicine runner - how can anyone be so naturally cute!!!) and Ryan Potter as older Jo. Wonderful! I've seen it three times, just to try to capture all of the scenery and hidden treasures in the story. I've taken a different friend each time to share the fun!!
