It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.
TrueHello
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

Had difficulty in deciding to watch this at first: The main character is terminally ill, etc. so a sad and may be depressing I thought. But no,the movie that comes out of this plot is brilliantly inspiring of life ! And this done without letting you suffer through sad, painful scenes or trying to make feel good by taking an overly optimistic approach, showing the good side of things, etc. NO ! It is simply presenting some everyday life characters living in a beautiful city. The life naturally flows through them. Whether they like it or not...My first Klapish film. Brillianlty done. Will definitely watch his other works.

I din't love it, but I liked it for sure. Typical French movie showing no exceptional events, just ordinary lives, a lot of ordinary lives to which you finally get attached. Three characters in different scenes, speaking of the fact that they hadn't had sex or had been single for a long time: "During Middle-Age. I will need to check my dick with carbon 14 to be sure"; "I think even my cat would like to dump me"; "My legs aren't waxed..." "...Don't worry, at this stage I can't care". This summarizes all the topic: ordinary lives are lonely, all lives are lonely. At last a so realistic ignorant racist baker wonderfully played by Karine Viard: the France I hate, but who exists whatever I think and want; just wanted to slap her.

In "Paris," there is a story around every corner. A young heart transplant candidate, Pierre, looks down from his balcony to the busy streets of Paris. He finds comfort in observing the everyday details of other peoples lives as his own may be slipping away. A history professor begins to regret the sacrifices he made for his career after his father passes away. In a clumsy, urgent attempt to find love, he sends a text message to an unobtainable coed. An open air market vendor must learn to live again after losing his wife. When Pierre's sister Elise (Juliette Binoche) puts her life on hold to take care of him, they both realize that she has just been going through the motions since her husband left. Pierre convinces her that her life isn't over - it is just beginning. "Paris" is full of so many things that make Paris great: the history, inspiration, life, and love!Movie blessings! This wonderful film takes a while to get started while the character development takes place mostly in small vignettes. Although the main thread is concerned with the Romain Duris and Juliette Binoche sibling relationship, with Duris's heart defect, other stories come into play with some well acted scenes which intertwine perfectly cumulating into an excellent climax. This is very much a film which requires some concentration and if you are looking for a typical Hollywood blockbuster with action, guns, nudity and a positive ending then please do not watch it, but if you want believable characters, fantastic scenery, well directed, cracking storyline and an ending which you will be talking about and thinking about for days after then this is your film. personally I was so engrossed in this film that I forgot the time and sad that it finished when it did. Hire it or buy it. Recommended :)
