An absolute waste of money

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

I turned this on 15 minutes in and thought it looked pretty good. Attractive hero, cute heroine, a bus trip. then I looked it up on IMDb and saw that I had seen it before, and that I had given it only 4 stars. Hmmm. By the end of the movie the little annoyances and irritations added up and I understood. My main complaints echo some of the other reviewers.1.) How many times does she flirtily call him "Cowboy"? a hundred? 2.) the boyfriend was unquestionably a jerk. He did not handle the competition well to say the least. and that proposal was cringe- worthy. But my lord, I kind of felt sorry for him. He was so painfully desperate.3.)She flirted with cowboy right in front of said boyfriend. Not nice. In fact she was kind of a h0. She shows up at the breakfast table in a nice outfit to show cowboy New York City. Takes one look at him after he's had a chance to take a shower, and goes back to put on a sexier outfit and smack on some lipstick. Need I ask what her game was here? 4.) the horse ride through New York and New Jersey. Stupid Stupid Stupid. Yes, it was super corny. But it made absolutely no sense. Why didn't he take a cab? So here's the main thing:5.) So she had a big problem with moving away from Chicago due to her position as an award-winning professor of astronomy. (don't get me started on that.) Yet she wants to hook up with a rancher in Texas, who can hardly compromise at all as to where he lives for the rest of his life. So what's the inevitable result? I guess Hallmark didn't think that through. It wasn't all bad. I liked the parents, the boyfriend's acting was great. Damon Runyon as cowboy made a romantic hero. But her incredibly shallow behavior, the impossibility of a long-term relationship, the needless stupidity of the premise, and the corny clichés prevent me from giving it more than 4 stars. Nice coat wardrobe though.

I'm glad to see another movie that is somewhat out of the typical pattern for Christmas movies. It doesn't dwell on all those usual Christmas traditions. On the other hand, the story is pretty predictable. What makes it for me is Sarah Carter and Damon Runyan. They spend screen time together. They have fun. They make chemistry. Sarah Carter has an infectious laugh and looks for the happy things.I enjoyed the singing and the dancing.*** SPOILERS*** What I didn't like was the whole sequence around Holly breaking up with Adam. It is true that Adam didn't care about what made Holly truly happy. It is also true that his proposal was an embarrassment. On the other hand, he had good reason to be upset because she was flirting with another man right in front of him. She didn't set out to hurt him, but it was hurtful. But worst of all, the words that came out of her mouth to him sounded like nonsense to me. Part of it is the whole soul mate-myth/instant-love thing popular in romance movies. Also, riding a horse through urban New Jersey and New York is kind of silly. If you take this whole section and do it differently I might have loved this movie. As it was, it was slightly better than OK.They also left open the whole Chicago - Texas, which is just as bad as Chicago - New York.

I know it's a Hallmark movie, and I usually enjoy them, but One Starry Christmas is just painful to watch. Girl and boy in a relationship. girl wants to get married, boy is procrastinating. Girl goes on trip to surprise boyfriend, but meets Cowboy. (Cowboy has painful acting skills with an even worse fake accent.)Girl and Cowboy have some really boring cliché Christmas adventures, boyfriend gets jealous when he suspects she's moving away from him. --If the acting couldn't get any worse, insert the parents of the girl... Saccharine sweet, corny, too many face lifts mother, is just about as annoying as annoying gets. The "perfect" family is so distracting that I can't even focus on the movie at this point. ~Cowboy has brother that has a great set of pipes and sings a beautiful song at the dinner table. (That is probably the only redeeming value in the movie) Bad accent cowboy teaches New Yorkers how to miraculously line dance in just one, 2 minute lesson, and they're all urban Cowboys now!Shockingly, the boy and girl break up, and girl rides off with bad accent cowboy. The end.

I have been watching Hallmark movies for years and repeatedly, as I find that when you watch a movie more than once, you definitely catch something that you didn't initially. With that said, I recommend to any true Hallmark Movie fan that you watch "One Starry Christmas" it has become one of my favorites. For anyone who believes in following their dreams and trusting your instincts (as hard as that might be because we question ourselves too much), this is the movie for you. Sarah Carter and Damon Runyan do a wonderful job; they must both have believed in the characters they were portraying; otherwise, the roles of Holly and Luke wouldn't feel so real.
