During the invasion of Normandy the photograph of a slim Korean man in German uniform was found. It transpired that the man had served as a soldier in the Japanese, Russian and German armies. His incredible story inspired director Kang Je-Gyu to create this epic war drama.

Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Andrei Minin Sorry for bad English. The movie director, of course, is good at shooting epic, bombastic, spectacular and ambitious movie. I like Korean movies - they work hard on making good movies with reasonable budget. But for anyone interested in the history of that time... to be short: half of the movie, I did not know whether to laugh or to cry.By movie story line it looks like that where the Koreans, there is a military defeat: 1. The main character took in the Japanese army - and the Japanese got big issues on Khalkhin. 2. They joined Soviet army - and Germans almost reach Moscow. 3. When Germans captured the main character - Soviet began counterattack. 4. Finally, the main character finds himself in the Wehrmacht in Normandy just before the Allied landings...I haven't seen such harsh Red Army in overseas movies before, thanks! ;-)For whom this movie has been made? Koreans in this movie - stupid, cowardly, slightly cruel. Japanese - very stupid, suicidal and wildly violent. Soviets? Ice demons of hell and Vigil chaos. Germans? (Honestly could not watch the whole movie, but I can assume that meticulously cruel)PS I am going to slight a couple of prisoners Asians because I got into fuss while writing this review... (Don't take my review seriously because if you take this movie seriously you may take seriously my comments too). I will this movie to my collection.
ash-47 The plot of this is quite childish and straightforward - you can guess how the story will be developed quite easy. Everything in film is exaggerated- feelings, personal emotions, cruelty, explosions. Of course it's impossible to speak about historical truth through the film's prism - it's all complete mess. There are multiple mistakes with geography, wear, usage of alphabet and so on. But it's even worse - this film leaves an impression, that the most humanistic combatants were Nazis. Two main heroes spent pleasant time in German Army with maximum comfort and most humanistic relationships between soldiers. My conclusion: it's quite weak compilation of clichės with a lot of factual errors and wrong misinterpretation of historical facts. Save your time, money and most important your brains from this rubbish stuff.
pripyat Underrated movie , had to watch it with subtitles but its a great film and I love it. In this movie we see the Koreans be with Japanese, Russian, and German army. Movie is full of action and you will get tired by the end cause its so long. This movie shows that there are evil officers in different armies and shows the perspective of Operation Overlord from the Germans point of view. This is the best war film I've seen. This movie was full of suspense and curiosity of what will happen next. The Koreans were all over Europe with a goal to get back home. Unbroken(2014) is similar to this film, because both of the Koreans that become friends, were rival runners. As this movie moves from perspective of Japanese to Russian to German, it is revealed that in war Everyone is guilty ( that is if you didn't know of that). I would give this movie a 10/10 but during some fight scenes and other action scene camera was shaky and it got me confused. Saving Private Ryan is know for their accurate remake of history, well My Way is way more realistic and accurate. No average soldier of any country is more evil than that soldier of another country.
Ann Gao I watched this movie in my Korean History freshman seminar and clearly remember myself and most of my classmates tearing up and feeling very emotional by the end of it. Being a historical drama/war film inspired by a true story, My Way brought many realistic aspects of World War II to the table. Really made us think about the political and social relationships between countries during that time period. Characters were relatable and character development was steady but thrilling with one or two plot twists here and there. I probably would not have watched this film on my own because the genre does not necessarily appeal to me. Glad my professor chose it, else I would have missed out on a terrific film.
