Reviews
Protraph Lack of good storyline.
Ketrivie It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
Kayden This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
Slab King I went into this movie after having seen Warcraft, so my expectations weren't too high, but as soon as the movie started I knew I was in for something really special. This is the best Sci-Fi movie of all time and my personal all time runner up (it loses to Saving Private Ryan, but that movie is unbeatable). Clint Mansell as always delivers a suspenseful score that makes you wish he worked on more films. Duncan Jones is a wonderful director, but he shined more so in the story he crafted and dialog he created. Last, but not least Sam Rockwell delivers an unrivalled performance all actors should stride for. I would like to end this review by saying that it's best to watch this movie without having seen the trailer, since I believe it gives away too much.
ryderevans Moon was the surprise that every science fiction fan was waiting for- low budget, high on ideas and low on CGI it is a masterpiece of independent cinema. Not many are aware that the director Duncan Jones is the son of the legendary David Bowie. Moon is fantastic filmmaking and all the praise heaped on Sam Rockwell- who is completely alone throughout the film except being accompanied by a robot voiced by Kevin Spacey- is rightfully justified. Moon is one of those rare science fiction films that everyone, even non-sci-fi fans need to watch
junecleavage8 I came across this on Netflix in 2018, thinking it was probably a movie I had already seen. I'm So glad that I kept watching, because this is one of the more charming and emotionally-impactful "solo mission in space screws with your head" movies out there. I can't believe I'd never come across it until now. There are a handful of movies it reminded me of... but then I realized I was watching a 2009 film, and there have been many movies since then that borrowed pages. Regardless, the main premise of this film is fresh. It trots out predictable tropes of the genre and then quickly - and superbly - subverts them at every turn. All the while, it keeps you thinking and feeling.Fun, emotional, psychological and genre-subversive. Enjoy.
CB Sam Rockwell is stellar here. This impressive low budget movie compares favourably to movies costing 10x as much, and sits proudly right next to 2001.
