Reviews
ThiefHott Too much of everything
Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
Derrick Gibbons An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) This is the path writer-director Shirlyn Wong's short film takes here. Early on it seems, Dafoe's character intends to kill the old lady (supposedly still his mom at that point) with his meal, then they look like a loving couple and finally we find out he is, in fact, a machine. That is also why he could not eat any fish. Or ice. Or did not help her when she was about to choke. Major turn of events here.I enjoyed watching these 9 minutes. The scenes with the ice were funny. I can't see any deep message in here or major emotional impact it could have had, but it's an entertaining short film and Willem Dafoe is fun to watch as always. The only thing Iwas a bit confused with was the ending. Did the other lady get him out of the garbage or did she have another of these robots and there was some kind of mass production. Anyway, give it a look. It is nicely done and the music used here fits it very well.
