hsjones2112 I just watched "Light of Day" again, one of my favorite 80's movies. It's a lost treasure, having never been released on DVD in the US due to an obscure IP issue. I only managed to find it as a mediocre transfer from VHS, which is sad and surprising. It's probably the most realistic and competent portrayal of the working class US family in the 1980's ever caught on film. Flawlessly cast, perfectly executed for what it is (meaning any technical rough edges only make it better), and heartbreakingly relatable.Joan Jett excels in a role not much different from herself in real life. Gena Rowlands and Jason Miller, as eminently recognizable actors (but not exactly super stars that every viewer can name), were a perfect selection for parents that the average viewer will instantly, subconsciously identify as representative of the previous generation. And Micheal J. Fox perfectly balances Jett in a performance that I wouldn't go so far as to say demonstrates *range* so much as it just happened to be a perfect-fit (tho the role itself certainly has more depth than what's he's generally known for).And the music is great!I love it. I relate to it. More subtlety and realism than any John Hughes 80's classic. Accidental excellence *in the extreme*! Find it. Watch it. Petition Sony Pictures for a Blu-Ray release!!!

Lisa This film may not be a work of genius, but it touched me deeply in 1987 and it still does. Joan Jett and Michael J. Fox touch a chord literally and figuratively as polar opposite siblings who share a passion for music. Gena Rowlands is absolutely brilliant as the desperately ill mother who clings to her faith for solace and dominates her children out of fear for them. The soundtrack is jam-packed with old-fashioned style rock n' roll. An instrumental piece (titled Elegy) underscores the leaden sadness throughout the film and is ethereal and beautiful. For anyone who has struggled with family strife, there will be familiar territory here. This film is, in my opinion, underrated and worth a second (or a first!) look.

swh3 If you're looking for an Academy Award caliber screenplay or performances - keep looking. If you're looking for an imaginative or tightly wrenched plot line - keep on looking. But if you're looking for a relatively simple, mildly thought provoking and even a bit touching family/coming-of-age melodrama - "Light of Day" may possibly be up to the task. During this primetime part of his career, pretty much anything that Michael J. Fox did was worth a look. Couple this with the facts that the legendary Gena Rowland turned in a credible performance, and rocker Joan Jett was surprisingly solid, "Light of Day" can be decently entertaining to those folks who are home during the day; those airlines looking for inexpensive in-flight movies or guys like me, who learned of the bar scene, by cutting their teeth in so many of Cleveland's eighties-era, head bangin' watering holes... 5.5 Stars

BlackBalloon did not "score" Natural Born Killers, he merely assembled and produced the soundtrack album. He also contributed a new song to that film and soundtrack (as NIN). Trent Reznor solo contributed two instrumentals to the Lost Highway score/soundtrack... And he also played piano in some of the music for World Traveler... But he has yet to score a film a la Billy Corgan for Stigmata.
