Excellent but underrated film

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

La Llorona failed to meet my expectations. The story was original and it kind of had a good plot going on, but the acting (specifically Elizabeth Avila's)was horrible. The direction of the film was bad too, and some things weren't clear, like the fact that Diana's (Elizabeth Valdez) baby was the son of her own father. It is drama all through the movie, and it needs a little comic relief. At the end of the movie I was left confused and a little depressed.I just wasted 1 hour and a half of my life watching this...but I think that if it was remade again with better acting, and a different script, it could be a really good movie.

When I heard that there was a new Mexican movie, I had to watchit...but when I heard that it was made by new filmmakers and thatthey were about my age, then I definitely new I had to see it. And itwas definitely worth my time and money. It was very inspiring tosee that someone out there is brave enough to make a differentfilm, about a completely different subject and with an out of theordinary ending.... With a first time director, producers, lead actress and so on...it isreally an achievement, especially to get it out there once the moviewas completed. It really amazed me, I have always wanted tomake a movie or to be part of one, and this movie showed me thathard work pays off and that it is still possible to make movies, andgood ones, in Mexico! if you didn't see this film, I would recommend watching it at leaston video when it comes out, definitely don't miss it and especiallyif you are a young aspiring filmmaker like myself.

Loved it! Had been meaning to comment on this film since I saw it...Finally saw something different. I went to see the film thinking itwould be scary....but was surprised, in a good way, to actually betold a story where I really felt something about the characters, thesituations, the relationships, the secrets...Loved the dark humoralso!! The way that this mixed with the strong family situationsreally got the point across for me and it was shocking to see thedifferent forms of abuse and violence going on and that probablydo go on in many families. The family portrait as well as thefriendships and traditions portrayed made me love this story andfeel hope that a new kind of movies are going to be made...it wasrefreshing to hear music that actually makes you feel, especially atthe end..is there a soundtrack?? Congrats to the people behind this film...when is the next onecoming out??

This movie is the first feature, produced by a duo of women in the middle of the still new panorama of film making in the north of Mexico. The movie haves some problems due to being the first attempt of young people, and cause being produced against a hard medium. I must say that the movie haves many interesting moments and each one can be admired for its own merits. The principal problem is that each of this moments very often haves nothing to do with the others, I mean the film is very inconsistent in means of its narrative. The second mayor problem is the script, cause the story even being very interesting, and complex sometimes, is told in a very confusing way (I have the theory that the editing haves to do with this) making some important points unclear for almost all the play. The search of making art and also telling a good story is evident. Being this point the principal benefit of the movie and the filmmakers, promising a much better result in the next production.
