Gaurav Mishra The film is a political thriller with engaging plot with Dhanush playing dual roles as Kodi(the titular character) and his twin brother Anbu. The performance of both leading pair Dhanush and Trisha Krishnan are a worth watch and there screen presence is awesome. While it gives a good watch for Dhanush's role, Trisha Krishnan's role as the antagonist is a super. The problem is that a script of this worth needed a better director. R.S.Senthilkumar(the director) made the movie more commercial and massy. Director like Anurag Kashyap("Gangs of Wasseypur" fame) , Prakash Jha("Raajneeti" fame) , Gautham Menon("kakha kakha" ,"yennai arindhal" fame), Pa.Ranjith("Madras" , "Kabali" fame) or Karthik Subbaraj("Jigarthanda" fame) would have made a better product out of this script. If you ignore the massy substances from the movie.. It is a good movie to enlight upon the mercury(the chemical substance) problem with good twists and turns in a political game. Watch out for Trisha krishnan especially 😉

Reno Rangan A decade ago, the same pair for a film would have been a laughing stock. The main factor was the chemistry between them, which is now improved a lot. Particularly Dhanush whose stardom rose into the sky high. I am talking about Dhanuhs-Trisha combo. They were good in this film, but the nature of their roles was another advantage to work out so well. Not very romantic as if you had thought that way, but it was about politics and achieving their goals at any cost.So this is the story of the twin brothers, who were born and raised in the political influenced family. Since their father lost his life for a good cause during political struggle, one of the brothers got interested in his father's path from the young age. The story is to reveal his ambitions and the secret romance with an opposition party member. On the other side his innocent brother having his way of life which disturbs after something went wrong. With a twist, the narration shifts to thriller in its final act till the conclusion.The actors' presence made this film watchable. The direction was average. The writing was not good. So much cliché, that straightly borrowed from the 90s Kollywood films. Though, overall the messages were good in a few parts. But sometimes overshadowed by commercial elements like unwanted punchlines, unrealistic fights and slow- motion clips in this modern era of the film world. Particularly, as usual, the songs were the big drawback. If you are an Indian and Tamilan, then you have a chance to enjoy it, due to familiarity with the concept of the film and the culture that depicted in the film. For an outsider, the 80 per cent of the film does not make any sense. But even for the native viewers, I would say choose it carefully, because it is not a must see.6/10

pranavadvaith A Political drama set in village background with good dose of commercial elements. Dhanush never done this kind of role previously people see a new angle in Dhanush acting in this movie. Santosh Narayan music and background scores are plus points in this movie.Director R.S. Durai Senthilkumar had done a good job in this movie he never made audience feel boring in his previous movies Ethir Neechal and Kaaki Sattai too . There are no scenes in this movie to make audience dizzy. Kodi surely is a block buster of this Deepawali. As a fan of Dhanush i feel satisfied for this stuff in this movie. I was much dissatisfied with his previous releases but Kodi is a relief from both of these movies.
