I Am Trailers

I AM is an utterly engaging and entertaining non-fiction film that poses two practical and provocative questions: what’s wrong with our world, and what can we do to make it better? The filmmaker behind the inquiry is Tom Shadyac, one of Hollywood’s leading comedy practitioners and the creative force behind such blockbusters as “Ace Ventura,” “Liar Liar,” “The Nutty Professor,” and “Bruce Almighty.” However, in I AM, Shadyac steps in front of the camera to recount what happened to him after a cycling accident left him incapacitated, possibly for good. Though he ultimately recovered, he emerged with a new sense of purpose, determined to share his own awakening to his prior life of excess and greed, and to investigate how he as an individual, and we as a race, could improve the way we live and walk in the world.

Reviews
Teddie Blake The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Brennan Camacho Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
Raymond Sierra The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Edwin The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
poe426 My biggest problem with this documentary is that it doesn't make mention of one inescapable fact: Killer Instinct has been hard-wired into our DNA. Thom Hartmann (whose show I watch every day on Free Speech TV) points out that "Democracy is in our DNA." And he's right. But so is Killer Instinct. In fact, based on a lifetime of observation, I'd venture that Killer Instinct is Man's strongest drive. The evidence is all around us. (As I write this, the Israelis have just murdered more than 700 Palestinians in Gaza, the Russians are doing essentially the same thing in the Ukraine, and the good ol' U.$. is "conducting operations" in at least half a dozen countries around the world- including having a third go at Iraq.) Democracy may well be ingrained in the DNA of OTHER animals, but as for US... I'll believe it when I see it.
dreaesparza Why Excellent?because it is thought provoking and that is what documentaries doI Personally share and have read many ideas and scientific studies that were shown in the film, so i found it to be friggin awesome that it was all stitched together. of course he can't give you all the depth behind the science that would take 2 more films He is here to give his hopeful opinion to the belief that We Are All One This topic can be explored in a 20 hour film if you would like but he made it personable and fun with showing clips that illustrated some ideas comically and with provoking emotions. this is an opinion piece so be open to his ideas even if you disagreeif you like to smile to feel and to watch the self discovery of others than i will say that you will enjoy this most docs explore one topic examples Why We Fight - military industrial complex Black Fish - the horrors of captivity on intelligent mammals Food Inc- this one is in the title I am - the exploration of self-discovery after accepting death and then trying to make a creative/fun piece with the the details that the exploration gave him using animations , video clips, scientist, authors, history , its a little bit of everything and thats why personally i loved it
Race Dowling (racedowling) It started out OK just long enough to suck me in, then it went down the path of pseudo-scientific new age idiocy (aka woo) as bad or worse than "The Secret." Real science is not going to lend legitimacy to your pet beliefs. Non scientists need to refrain from trying to make their unscientific beliefs sound scientific, because they always come off as naive, ignorant and stupid to anyone with more than a high-school understanding of science. How do I know it's woo? Here are some selected quotes:"Studies show that ..." Were these studies performed under controlled test conditions and were appropriate tests of significance used? They don't say, so the answer likely is "no.""The science tells us that ..." No, it doesn't, unless you can show exactly how it does. Prefacing an unproven assertion with the word science only fools the naive and ignorant."Quantum entanglement ..." If you aren't showing me the math, you obviously do not understand quantum physics, stop bringing it up."The human heart can predict the future." Really? How exactly does the heart violate causality?
Michael McAleer Fully recommend this film. Warning: if watched with an open heart could change your life forever and make you happier than you've been since you were a child. Big business better watch out .... we're waking up and we'll be coming for you soon ...... Parents show your teenagers this film, the utmost education you could provide for them.My only question is why does this film feel like the complete truth make such total sense to me and yet a couple of days after watching it I feel like I'm losing my mind - supporting a simple experiment that has mutated into an evil society making us all sick? I should feel healthy but society tells me I'm mad .... Guess I'll find out whose right soon enough.
