Salubfoto It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."

scriptspring-594-680587 Apart from getting the history of The Winchester House completely wrong, there is no substance in the story, the characters are not well developed, so you don't really care what happens to them, and the trite horror movie set-ups are the very definition of campy. It isn't scary and you can't even laugh at it as a suitable schlock flick. A complete waste of an hour and a half. For those of us who are familiar with the actual Winchester House in San Jose, CA, the house portrayed is not the actual house, nor is it in its actual location. How hard would it have been for the makers of this film to have done even a little bit of research to get the content in the ballpark? I love the genre, so this comes from someone who can appreciate a good horror movie. Unfortunately, this isn't one!
peter_lumley Despite a low budget and mediocre acting with blue screen effects that make you laugh, this movie is actually quite good. Not many movies these days are actually scary. In an age where sawing someone's head in two makes people yawn, it seems time to bring back some old fashioned scares. Based on the legendary Winchester house this movie provided those old school thrills with very little gory violence. The threat is consistent and sustained allowing the viewer to feel threatened where other horror movies would back off. Despite all the negative aspects to the film it is enjoyable to watch and the fact it is so cheap actually helps. Hollywood often gloss over horror making it unscary, this goes the whole way to provide good entertainment.a worthwhile watch
sleepingbeauty_19 Haunting of Winchester House is a unique horror film because not only is the story full of interesting twists and turns, but it was produced in 3-D. You will certainly find yourself jump and cringe at some the more intense scenes, for things will really JUMP out at you. It is so refreshing to see a horror film that doesn't merely rely on buckets of blood and fake body parts being flung around to supply the entertainment and bulk of the movie. The use of practical stunts and props within Haunting of Winchester House does add an element of realism that is lacking in so many movies today. Digital, it's always digital, but the effects leave a lasting impression when you can see that it is a real person in the shot, and not a computer image. Haunting of Winchester House creates a classic scary movie feel, but with modern cinematic touches and expression throughout. If you have numbed yourself with bloody, cheesy slasher films then perhaps this movie is not for you. But for those with a more refined taste for blood and chills, Haunting of Winchester House is right up your alley. I look forward to more films from director Mark Atkins and his crew. In a time where 3-D is the future of film, I can only imagine what is in store!
