Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie Trailers

LA homicide detective Gene Handsome's knack for solving mysteries is matched only by his inability to make sense of his own problems.

Reviews
Raetsonwe Redundant and unnecessary.
Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
melaniesuecrandall Jeff Garlin is a great actor; he is funny and sensitive and smart. The movie was quirky but fun; enjoyed all of the characters.
Banzai Ortiz I really liked the movie, it's a fun concept and would also do well as a TV series.Handsome (played by Jeff Garlin) is a rather slow, but very intelligent and down-to-earth detective. Somehow his entourage and more or less all other characters in the movie are just nuts, and it's extremely funny to see the main character (Handsome) interacting with them in his slow and down-to-earth way. And i think this is the fun of the movie, these interactions and scenes.A downer is that the murderer is already revealed in the first scene, it does not really make sense to do that - unless it's a marketing thing :) But maybe it's also a Columbo-kinda thing. On the other hand, the fun part of the movie is really the character interactions. You should not expect a real murder mystery movie. It does have a "Curb your enthusiasm" vibe to it somehow. I think if you like Jeff Garlins humour you'll like the movie as well.
mbrocky I read several reviews prior to watching Handsome and was a little concerned. After watching the show, I found it very entertaining. Both Garland and Lyonne are great actors and they did a good job here. I would not call this a comedy or a Mystery (they gave that away quickly) but a quirky cop show. It has the same vibe a Monk. With a little clean up, this would make a great 1 hour series.
mudgeon-1 From the trailer I thought this was going to be an ensemble type cop TV show where every member of the team had these wacky quirks. Happily surprised that it wasn't that, and that it wasn't a show but a movie. It was so hilariously slow and befitting the main character, every second was like a big sigh of "Is this really my life". The camera lingers on how uncomfortable he is in certain situations as everyone around him says things that are wrong, yet he's resigned to "this really is my life". It's not mean spirited at all but an observation of LA and "well it takes all types". When he asks Natasha Lyonne's character to "Do the thing" with the iPhone text?!! Now I DO want it be a show that comes on a few times a year and a new neighbor moves in next door and Natasha Lyonne meets some new witness and I sit back with some coffee and enjoy every second. I won't even get into the layers of murder mystery movie of the week spoofing that help propel the story, but knowing full well who did it is half the fun of watching everyone get there. As I'm writing this I want to watch it again right away to see one of the characters say "did you sign off on this" again and again. I don't write movie reviews ever but I wanted to help at least one person out there look past the other reviews, "take a breath" and enjoy a great movie.
