ShangLuda Admirable film.
AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Ricardo Daly The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
DonewithEVM I'm an INC member, but I still have enough of a brain to see that this is nothing but self-serving propaganda for an organization that's increasingly revealing itself to be the cult that we always denied that we were...Perhaps it's blind devotion, perhaps it's the fear of being punished, perhaps it's simply because this organization is the only place where some church members feel a sense of belonging; whatever the reason, the fact that people can't acknowledge that there is something wrong with the blatant corruption, intimidation, and power-mongering in the church is truly disheartening. Rather than clamouring for change, they come to IMDb instead, to lavish praise on a boring, unfocused movie, just because they feel it is their duty to do so.On the positive side, Dennis Trillo gives a solid performance, as usual. But it's not nearly enough to salvage the 3 hours of time that would have been better spent on... well, anything else, really.I realize my voice will probably be lost amidst the raves and fanfare and EVM chants... So remember: always go to church, don't forget to put money (bills, not coins!) in the money pouches, and - most importantly - obey your leaders and never question them, no matter what crimes and human rights violations they commit, because they were placed there by God, which pretty much gives them the right to do whatever they want, laws and human decency be damned.
NemoCotard Note that I'm treating this movie just like any other movie, no biases, just pure truth in a film making standpoint.CINEMATOGRAPHY:Let's get down to the point this movie is as bad as or even worse than the movie Alexander. All spectacle and no substance, but unlike Alexander it also fails at being visually immersive. The basis of making a film is having the ability to do what books cannot. Where the hell did you find your DP? Not only did you abuse and lacked the knowledge to use a digital camera, but you just slapped a sepia filter that looks like it came from a smartphone.DIRECTING:The director made a couple of okay films in the past and this is not one of them. In his past film Hustisya he relied on Nora Aunor's acting chops and Ricky Lee's writing. This just proves that he's a director that can't stand with his own two feet, he knows how to give orders, but lacks the creative contribution. In this film I feel like he just gave orders and didn't give a creative output on how the film should feel or look. He didn't know how to immerse the audience to fully gasp the world being presented to them. To him it's all a black and white story.WRITING: Even talky films can be engrossing, like The Social Network, 12 Angry Men, and Zodiac. Writing is suppose to present the audience on a certain topic fiction or fact and let them decide to interpret themselves. If you don't do that then what's the difference in making a documentary? The writing is as good as a wiki page, but not as a film. Yes, I know it's a biopic, but it didn't make the story tight into pulling the audience's attention for 3 hours.ACTING: It was okay, I guess for the most part. I don't see actual people, but actors playing people and that's a bad sign. The director gave a bad job with the actors.SCORE: I gotta give props to the score because it was great, it suited the setting/period of the film, it was really grand. But it started playing in scene that it should've remained silent.EDITING: Pretty simple, I mean with digital it's much more flexible, but they didn't utilized it here. Again, wasting film as a medium. As for the overall message, you wanted the audience to see what you wanted them to see, instead of letting them decide on their own. You presented a god like figure, but gods aren't relatable. I was open minded about this film and I wanted it to be good, but it failed. You should've gotten a better director, nay a better everything.
nickels-81830 Felix Manalo movie is an all in one package. Plus it is a biopic film that cater a life of Brother Felix and the humble beginning of a Church of Christ. This movie is a pride of every Filipino.
James Reli The transition of his life to how he was able to reach the gap of horses and cars is amazing. It was also an amazing depiction to how he endured the hardships of the Japanese occupation and the whole movie is moving all through itself. Most scenes escalated quickly despite the movie being that long. I guess the real movie was supposedly 6 hours and it would've explained more about the movie. The actors were all famous and the portrayed their roles perfectly well. The religious influence is inspirational and the movie is something you should watch when you really want to know more about the history of this religion. Great production design by the way.
