Catherina If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
minaluka29 This movie had perfect performances by Wanda Sykes and Steve Carrel. Definitely their best movies Yet. My favourite film of all time. By the way Jurassic Park sucks.
stormhawk2018 "Have faith!" says the character protagonist throughout the film, and almost seems to tell the viewers who watch this movie expecting something similar to its precursor. This continuation focuses on the character of Evan Baxter (Steve Carell, the secondary who eclipsed the protagonist of the first installment ... but who was very well like that: as secondary ridiculed in small but powerful doses). Evan gets the call from God (Freeman) who asks him to build an ark like Noah because there is going to be a great flood.Unfortunately the movie, grace, what is said grace does not make much of the truth. And if it carries the weight of being a sequel of which expected at least something to the level of the first (which without being a masterpiece of humor, was much more entertaining, unique and fun at times than this) and is not , only the word deception can be used. The main problem is that this new premise is much less funny than the first film. The tape consists of watching this character soporifically talk to his family and co-workers and building an ark without arriving to convey really funny, tender or interesting moments. The case is that the minutes intent, and the film manages to transmit a state of comfort and optimism with ambiance to Disney (nice and lively). There is also a good display of media and effects that give rise to some other sequence of distracted action and some scene with animals quite remarkable. But all this is not enough to entertain the adult audience within this slow and candid story that has the same childlike, harmless and innocuous it is insubstantial and insipid. Not even Carell (I admit that he is a comedian that I like very much) manages to rescue the affair with a character who has been blurred his extremes of seriousness / comedy (he is no longer that smart bastard with elegant dress that made fun when he was ridiculed). Evan Baxter here is too content with a few occurrences that never make him explode in a funny way (not funny when he becomes a kind of Noah, or when he grows beard, or when dressed in robes...rather, anecdotes very little distracted). In short, it is hardly funny and its story is the most ordinary and candid. At best it will produce a couple of laughs (and hardly) for his gimmicks with the animals and the face of staggered of Carell in those moments. The best: That will please the children by their Disney-esque wrapping and their nonsense with animals. Wanda Sykes, her character and her phrases (every time she made an appearance, she sighed with relief)...the time of the invasion of the animals in the office. The worst: Evan's pathetic "dance" sequence that leaves Johnny Depp's "delusion" of "Alice in Wonderland" as the most hilarious of the universe by comparison. His general lack of grace.
zkonedog When I began watching this movie, I completely expected a rip-off of the hilariously funny "Bruce Almighty" starring Jim Carrey. Same concept, same jokes, same old, right?! Thankfully, this version went in a bit of a different direction and was all the better for it.The film follows news-caster Evan (from the first film, played by Steve Carell) as he leaves the newsroom behind and branches out into politics. Of course, just when it seems he has it made, he gets a little visit from God (once again personified brilliantly by Morgan Freeman). God tells Evan that he must build an Ark (ala Noah), as "a flood is coming". At first, Evan tries desperately to ignore or even outright thwart the "hand of God", but quickly learns that such an attitude is impossible. Thus, the Ark begins to be built and hilarity ensues.Yet, despite the great sight sags and situational humor that Carell (of "The Office" fame) nails so perfectly, is this film really a comedy? I would have to say an emphatic "no". The only actual jokes offered are commentary from Wanda Sykes, and those get old real fast. Instead, the directors/producers use a combination of those sight gags and crazy situations to fashion a family film with a great message and a compelling storyline. Basically, while it may not have you laughing out loud, you will find yourself chuckling throughout, then actually caring about what happens to the characters at the end.Going in that more family-oriented direction saved this film from becoming a re-tread of the first effort. The writers knew that only Carrey could have nailed the physical comedy and "in-your- face" jokes of "Bruce Almighty", so they toned it down a bit for the much more understated (yet still funny in its own way) Carell. This film is perfectly safe to watch with your children and enjoy with the entire family. It isn't an instant classic, but you won't be looking at your watch, either.
Python Hyena Evan Almighty (2007): Dir: Tom Shadyac / Cast: Steve Carell, Morgan Freeman, Lauren Graham, John Goodman, Molly Shannon: Bruce Almighty regarded the nature of God. Here we witness His power through ordinary people. Evan Baxter is elected into congress and God tells him to build an Ark. He refuses but his hair grows and animals follow him two by two. Directed by Tom Shadyac with a rushed plot but a terrific climax with flood at hand and an enormous boat. Shadyac previously made Bruce Almighty as well as The Nutty Professor. Steve Carell plays Evan with manic energy from his dealing with sudden hair growth to animals taking a sudden interest in him. Morgan Freeman returns as God as a reminder of the Biblical account of Noah. One issue that arises in the screenplay regards whether or not this flood would actually threaten all wildlife? It seems a tad unnecessary to lure in every species for a flood that takes place in a remote place. Supporting roles are complete cardboard with Lauren Graham as Baxter's wife and John Goodman as his pig-headed boss. This will not likely be placed at the top of their resumes. Molly Shannon appears but to many she will always be Mary Katherine Gallagher. On the same level as the first film although the subject matter is different in that both reference different Biblical areas. In this film God points out the theme with A.R.K. Acts of Random Kindness. Score: 6 / 10
